  1. Well, but it sucks if you sell items and later realize you need those for a quest and can't finish the quest anymore. Besides I wasn't saying to mark quest items, just mark junk items not needed for quests. The way it is now, I have to go to forums, open Randomizer's neet guide on which items are needed for quests (http://spiderwebforums.ipbhost.com/index.php?/topic/16393-items-to-keep-avernum-escape-from-the-pit-spoilers/) and then switch between forums and ingame. If the game itself would handle it, then it could save me the trouble.
  2. If this is a question for future spiderweb games my suggestion would be: Just like how items that are not yours are marked as "Steal", mark junk items as "Junk", so they are still there and can be taken if you are that masochist, but at least it's easy to tell which items are needed for selling/quests and which are not.
  3. So I guess I'll have to go Guardian again for G2, then switch to agent in G3 (for variety), then G4 Infiltrator or Servile and in G5 whatever I didn't take in G4.
  4. Thanks for all the hints, I got a bit further now. Sometimes you really just need to skip an area until later. I have another question: I want to play all GeneForge games without shaping, which class do you recommend for each game when I set myself the limitation to never use shaping? Concerning both "being able to beat the game on normal" and "fun to play".
  5. For me they are annoying. I want the game to tell me which items I need to keep and which I can ignore. =/
  6. Also I have quick action at level 8 already and I read that quick action allows you to attack twice sometimes, but it never happened to me. Is it that rare? Thanks for the hints. So I guess I'll need to use crystals? I'm not sure what to even take with me, the thorn staffs and javelins were too heavy so I just put them all at one place for now. I also have fairly high mechanics (10) already, but some doors still need 4-14 living tools, is that normal? I don't think there are many ways to go actually. To the north the monsters get really hard, to the east there are two bridges. The southern bridge has some really hard turrets I can't get past yet. The northern bridge is cleared and the map afterwards as well, but I can only advance east from there and there is a map where Vlish's control those smaller guys and there doesn't seem to be a way to just lure them one by one. But I guess I'll just need to sneak past them?
  7. Hello everyone! I started with GeneForge recently and as I don't really like "summoning" gameplay I wanted to play it solo. I decided for Guardian (though I guess Agent would have been the better choice, but I don't want to start over). My Guardian fully focused on Strength, Endurance, fighting skills and healing. I want to try to finish the game without summoning monsters to aid me (normal difficulty). I've already pretty much cleared the south west section and managed to clear the northern bridge to the east. However, now the game is starting to get really hard. Any recommendations on what I can do or what skills I should focus on if I want to play the game without shaping? If I get surrounded by many weaker mobs, do Guardians have any way to kill multiple in one go (this is my main problem, I can easily kill single harder monsters)? Anything else I should consider to not get stuck because of being too weak? Also I got quite some gold already, where can I find trainers?
  8. I think the only real problem in this game is the skill "Sniper". Because it doesn't really work well together with Gymnastics. If Sniper was changed to be able to work more than once per round then the balance would be perfect in my opinion, because then archers could attack 3 times without frenzy if they max out on Gymnastics and Sniper. They'd still do less damage than melee fighters but of course have the range advantage as well as the ability to kill multiple weaker monsters in one go.
  9. Yeah but then only your main character attacks and he will be weaker that when playing alone. Also you need to protect the characters behind you.
  10. Yes, order is important for me too. Can't do much wrong with Nethergate:Resurrection though as it's independent.
  11. I started with Romans first but then did regret I didn't decide to go with a Singleton Roman right away, because it seemed far more enjoyable to bash through the monsters without switching to fight mode (kinda gives it a roguelike-like feeling). The story seem indeed be better when starting with Romans, though.
  12. Hey guys, when I go to sleep after retrieving the second important item there is a cutscene describing your dream, however, for me the game hangs there so I can't read it. After the scene ends I can continue playing, but I never can read about the dream. If it works for anyone, could you please tell me what the dream is about? That would be really awesome, thanks.
  13. Yeah, sometimes the quest-related text doesn't show up in the initial catalogue of questions, so you need to start with chit-chat. Wish Jeff wouldn't have done it like this though. Makes it even harder to find quests without walkthrough (and I prefer to play without one). After all you wouldn't want to go through all dialogue options again every time you achieved something (which might cause new texts to show up).
  14. As someone basically new to the series I must say that I think Avernum Escape From The Pit is the best game to start the series. 1. It's more "modernized" and user friendly. 2. The build system is less complex. 3. It still tells the very beginning of the story / lore, just like Avernum 1. I was very happy that I had started the series with this game. I'm actually considering to not play Avernum 1-3 altogether and just wait for the remakes of 2 and 3 and then move on to the second trilogy. While waiting, I will probably first play the other series.
  15. You should note that after attacking or using a skill you can NEVER move, no matter how many AP you have left.
