Tenderfoot Thahd kaspian
Is this possible? I got a few maps into a Servile game, and I'm getting eyestrain from trying to pick out my own character in its drab tan robes.
Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
The only way to do that is to swap the graphics in the game data. I think you can do it by altering a script, too. —Alorael, who could help more if he knew which class you were playing and which graphics you would rather have. Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
So I do. The graphics files for servile PCs are "G2300" through "G2325" in the "Graphics B" folder in "Geneforge 5 Files" and you can rename files to switch your character graphics. I'm not sure how recoloring works, though. —Alorael, who hopes this helps you escape your drab existence.
Rotghroth Rhapsody Uberdhizon
But please take into account the risk of messing with the code.
Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
That isn't messing with code at all. That's renaming files. You should keep track of what you rename. Backing up the graphics file first isn't a bad idea either. —Alorael, who can see the ultimate disastrous consequence of doing it wrong as having to download the game again. It's hard to ruin your saves now that they're stored in another folder entirely.
Tenderfoot Thahd kaspian
Thanks. I started a new game anyway. I wanted to try maxing out on mechanics.
Well-Actually War Trall The Ratt
You really don't need much more than 12 if you get all the mechanics boosting items.
Unflappable Drayk Sleeping Dragon
I'm no expert but... wouldn't changing your appearance also change the appearance of all the characters in the game that use the same graphic as you? (I think I had this problem once before, with an earlier game, perhaps an Avernum.)
Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
I don't think so. I didn't look too hard, but the sprites for NPCs and PCs seemed to be separate. —Alorael, who thinks the easy way to check is to look for redundant graphics, and he's pretty sure he saw some alternate guardian graphics. Hatchling Cockatrice Drayk Armitage
In the earlier games at least they are definitely not seperate.
Garrulous Glaahk pitchblack
Yeah. Take the lifecrafter graphic in 4 for example. It would have changed both you, and whats-his-name at the beginning of the game, to the new graphic.
