Curious Artila Crowley
I downloaded the Nethergate demo, but once I start the setup program it immediately freezes after coming up with the blue background. It doesn't affect any other programs, but I am unable to do anything with it, and it doesn't seem to be doing anything. The only way is to bring up the Close Program menu and shut the setup program down from there (which will eventually come up as "not responding"). I tried both available downloads, .exe and .zip and both had the same result. I am running Win98SE and I have so far installed all Exile and Avernum games without any problems. Well-Actually War Trall Archmagus Micael
Hmm. Have you checked your computer for viruses or malware recently? If you have any it could be messing things up. Do other install files work, or is it just Nethergate's installer which dies? - Archmagus Micael
Curious Artila Crowley
I have up-to-date antivirus software running all the time. Just installed the demo of Geneforge 1 without a hitch. Only Nethergate poses any problems.
Well-Actually War Trall Archmagus Micael
Um, This setup file works perfectly. I'm not sure if it's the latest version, but you can always update that. If this setup doesn't work then the problem's on your end. - Archmagus Micael
Curious Artila Crowley
*sigh* I know the problem is on my end. Sometimes my computer seems like it stays together with spit and iron wire software-wise. A correction to my earlier statement: I tried the Blades of Exile install, and that froze up in a similar manner. Apparently this has something to do with the age of the game. Write a mail to Jeff Vogel, he may know what to do.

Curious Artila Crowley
Why thank you, that works perfectly. I can do without one more entry cluttering up my system registry.
