I can see a dagger lying on the ground outside Erika's tower in the southeast area. I can get within sight of it by the secret door in the lava room, but there are stalagmites in the way. Is there any way to get there or is this another one of Jeff's infamous inaccessible taunts? Edit: Oh crap, sorry about posting this in the wrong forum. I would delete this if I could.

Even more unforunate then that the character editor in this game doesn't allow you to add inventory items. -
A:EftP - Where is the Jade Halberd?

I guess then this is another case where the dialogue was copied directly from Avernum 1 without associated game content matching. That's a shame. -
The Jade Halberd is mentioned in the game as one of the magical artefacts the first expedition had along, and it does exist in previous versions of the game. However, I have not been able to find it myself, nor have I found any information online to tell me where it is. So where is the Jade Halberd hiding?

Why thank you, that works perfectly. I can do without one more entry cluttering up my system registry.

What exactly are slith avatars?

Actually I've been paying some attention to what causes undead in the Avernum (or Ermaria) universe recently as I've been playing the games. I find it rather interesting and varied. Necromancy is one way, possibly coupled with a magician turning him- or herself into a lich. Another thing seems to be that when people die with an all-consuming emotion (or maybe just hatred?) in them they can't quite let go of this world and become undead, possibly exterting influence to the surrounding area as can be seen in the cave northeast of Mertis. A bit more mundane instance seems to be that when you are simply walking around in a graveyard the dead rise to fight you. Seems like simply disturbing someone's final resting place could result in retaliation. -
*sigh* I know the problem is on my end. Sometimes my computer seems like it stays together with spit and iron wire software-wise. A correction to my earlier statement: I tried the Blades of Exile install, and that froze up in a similar manner. Apparently this has something to do with the age of the game.

I have up-to-date antivirus software running all the time. Just installed the demo of Geneforge 1 without a hitch. Only Nethergate poses any problems.

I downloaded the Nethergate demo, but once I start the setup program it immediately freezes after coming up with the blue background. It doesn't affect any other programs, but I am unable to do anything with it, and it doesn't seem to be doing anything. The only way is to bring up the Close Program menu and shut the setup program down from there (which will eventually come up as "not responding"). I tried both available downloads, .exe and .zip and both had the same result. I am running Win98SE and I have so far installed all Exile and Avernum games without any problems.

It's clearly safe to say that this thread has gone horribly off-topic. All I wanted to know why a creature which by all means appears to be a spirit is not affected by repel spirit. If you want to continue the discussion about traditions, clichés and originality, could you please do it somewhere else? -
In A1 is there anything useful that can be achieved by finding evidence that Meena in the Abyss is controlling the nearby bandits? Confronting her with the evidence leads to her just laughing at your face and in the two fortifications at the south entrance of Abyss there doesn't seem to be anyone whom you can inform of this.

I did find one set of magic lockpicks... somewhere. Can't remember exactly, but it was some dungeon in the northeastern area of the map. Anyway, is there any place where you can buy them. I though that mysterious inaccessible room in Dharmon would hold a merchant selling them since there was a similar hidden shop in Exile which sold them, but guess not. So, can I get them anywhere other than finding some in dungeons?
