Adding Attachments in Forum

I was trying to upload some screenshots I have taken but for the life of me I can't figure out how to do it. It makes me feel very computer illiterate and self-conscious. So what are the steps? I see the My Media button but that is empty, the insert image button only wants URLs, and the manage attachment section of the profile seemed promising but I didn't see an upload option.

P.S. Sorry if this is in the wrong place, feel free to move it if so.

Glad to have helped.

Edit : Btw that was kind of an exceptional case. I don't of course mean to imply that PM'ing mods with our attachment requests will work :p

That'd be ridiculous, especially when you're uploading a pic as a punchline from someone else's post :p that won't surprise the mods for extra reps ;_;

Hmm, I tried uploading some photos to Facebook. I got the URLs and used insert image but they don't load. I think maybe I need to link my forum account to Facebook somehow.

The images you put on Facebook are meant to be viewed on Facebook: the site isn't really designed to be used for hosting images for display on other sites. It's better to use a dedicated image hosting site like imgur.

There's no such things as linking your FB account to the forums (Nor should there be!). If you have the url, and it is the actual url of the image, simply posting a link will suffice. Facebook does strange things to their urls where, after the .jpg (or what have you), there exists a ?[series of numbers and letter] that function, basically as permission for someone outside of your friends to view the image if it is not public (I don't have a Facebook, so I can't prove or demonstrate that) but you'll need that text as well.

If you continue to have issues, you may wish to try an alternative image hosting solution, such as

http://tinypic.com/

http://photobucket.com/

http://imgur.com/

I believe tinypic does not require an account, and is probably the easiest of the lot to use.

Edit: Damn you, Lilith!

I knew this would happen

You probably did this copy link>paste it into the image url thing

And this was (an example of a link) https://www.facebook...&type=1

No that would never work

Instead, do this right click on your image uploaded on FB, then look for the open image in new tab option, or anything similar to it, as it depends on your browser. The picture alone and a long link will open in a new tab. Ensure that the pic is the only thing you can see on that tab, nothing more, nothing less. Copy the link, paste it into the image url thing here, then you're done. So instead of that /photo.php?, you get: https://scontent-a-m...b21&oe=54DE0424

And that link points the image url directly to the pic

Basically, I was too lazy to make my own account on random image hosting sites because of the enter your email, enter it again, enter your password, enter it again, choose a username, a verification will be emailed to you, log to your gmail acc, click the link, account verified, settings, tweak stuff. Well, idk if you have time for that, but I don't, so I use FB :p But if you do have spare time and the muscles to do it, you have surpassed my laziness and therefore, I crown you as Diligent Aleric

And do try Lilith and Neb's posts, it kinda depends actually on which idea works best for you.

—Alorael, who imagines that is ever so slightly less work than Facebook. Because hey, no logging in!

Sorry, I used to assume too much back then :p I wasn't comfortable with Photobucket as it was my first image-hosting site, it made me feel so cranky when I used it, and I assumed that the others were like that too.

I never expected when I started this that I would get so much help, I really appreciate it and am kinda embarrassed because now that it's been explained pretty much step by step, I feel it is something I should have thought of.

No need to look down on yourself, that's what members are for, this be your SpidWeb
