Hatchling Cockatrice Aoslare
Rules: At the beginning of the round, a random letter will be selected. You can then create and submit your answer card. For each category, you may put down up to TWO answers, both of which will be scored. In general, points will be awarded as follows: + 1 point for a valid answer that begins with the correct letter + 2 points for a valid answer where multiple words, including the first word, begin with the correct letter + 1 bonus point will occasionally be awarded for answers the round organizer finds particularly interesting (typically 1 per question, but this can vary depending on the answers) There are, however, some restrictions: - If more than one person gives the same answer, those answers are eliminated and receive no points. Thus, putting down answers that are more unusual, is rewarded. - You may not use the same answer (or a slight variation on one answer) for multiple categories. - You may not use superfluous adjectives in your answer (e.g., "really big doghouse" for R) - Articles (a, an, the) do not count as part of the answer. ("The Beatles" counts for B, not T.) - For names, you can count either the first or last name: Biff Tannen and Tallulah Bankhead would both count for B and T alike. Titles do not count unless they are effectively the person's name. "Darth Vader" would be acceptable even though he technically has a name, but "Captain Picard" would not -- "Picard" or "Jean-Luc Picard" would be used. - Obviously, the answer has to legitimately fit the category. Make sure you read the clarifications! If you have questions about a particular answer, feel free to PM me. (That will send me an email. Posts here may take longer to get a response.) Whoever gets the most points wins. When I announce the winner, I will post the answer cards with the scoring breakdown. To submit your answer card, copy the following list of categories, write in your answers, and send me the whole thing in a PM titled "Answer card, round 4." I will only accept one answer card from each participant, so fill it out completely and make sure you are happy with your answers before you turn it in. Answer cards will be accepted from now until this time on Friday the 27th. I will calculate and post the scores as soon as I can. Letter for this round: T 01. Protagonist of an NES game: 02. Hatchling Cockatrice Aoslare
Clarifications: Google and other online resources are not frowned upon -- although the more readily available sources you use, the more likely you are to duplicate answers with somebody else. 03 - OBoE, and any player-made scenarios for BoX, do not count. 07 - The belief system can be historical -- it does not need to have adherents today so long as it once did. Sorry if that was unclear. 08 - The answers only count if the historical record suggests that they actually existed. That was what I meant by "historical." 09 - If you have a borderline candidate I suggest you ask. Heads of State should be fine, as well as heads of particularly influential organizations such as the UN, or other leaders with pre-eminent international impact. Hatchling Cockatrice Aoslare
Please don't mess up the contest for the other players. You're welcome to play but I suggest you read the rules. You missed two keys parts: # of answers to submit, and where to submit there. Hatchling Cockatrice Aoslare
New clarification: 08 - The answers only count if the historical record suggests that they actually existed. Magnificent Ornk nikki.
Aww, I really thought outside the box for #9 and it's funny that you didn't even acknowledge my answer (even to say it was wrong!). Whilst the category was 'World Leader', the clarification didn't say that it needed to be a Head of State, or the leader of some big organisation, just that these 'should be fine'. I mean, I didn't expect a point, but still! (For the curious, my second answer was: "Tom Sietas (who is currently the world's leading underwater swimmer, managing to swim 200m with just one breath)"
Hatchling Cockatrice Aoslare
Ah, right! Yes, that should have been listed with an N. Not sure how I left that off, as I definitely thought about it and decided on N. Sorry for the omission. Anyway, yeah, I think the spirit of the category was extremely clear. I'll also note that the clarification explicitly suggested asking about borderline candidates.
