Fledgling Fyora Yukkkari
I like to play Avernum and Geneforge games on my netbook. It has 1024 x 600 (widescreen). For Avernum 1 and Geneforge 1 it wasn't problem. But when I tried to run Avernum 4 Demo, it says, that resolution cannot be changed and stops. I changed resolution manually to 800x600, but it doesnt help. Is there any way to solve this? I have Win 7 Starter.
Understated Ur-Drakon Tyranicus
Avernum 4 and later games require a resolution of 1024x768 or higher. Your screen does not have a high enough resolution to play it.
Fledgling Fyora Yukkkari
But in error message it says, that it requires minimum 800x600
Understated Ur-Drakon Tyranicus
That was an oversight when making the game. It's a recycled message from previous games. Jeff must have forgotten to change it when making A4. I just did some testing. The game definitely runs at 1024x768.
Fledgling Fyora jack kallis
This thing happens when games are not compatible with the Graphic cards....

Ineffable Wingbolt BMA
That was probably only a *filler*; an excuse for spamming through a signature. The links had nothing to do with Spidweb's games Yeah, but you get custom resolution setting software on the web, you might want to try those. That will only work for resolutions smaller than the resolution of your screen. In this case, the OP's screen is 128 pixels too short. Unflappable Drayk adc.
Hello netbook user... ====== Yeah, I have netbook too. But I can play all of Spiderweb's demos including GF4-GF5 and AV4-AV5. And Avadon. Want to know how? ====== I googled for a while on how to increase the netbook's screen resolution and found out that you have to open regedit.exe on run and type <************> (I can't remember, but I'll tell it soon) then you have to find <*******> (I also can't remember) and change the value to 1. Then you will have a resoultion as high as 1152x864. ====== Oh yeah, I remembered now: Click to reveal.. BE FOREWARNED!!! ANY MISTAKES OR ERRORS IS NOT IN MY HANDS NOW! WE HAVE DIFFERENT NETBOOKS AND 80% OF THE PEOPLE WHO USED THIS TRICK WORKED. I'm sure yours will too. FAILURE TO FOLLOW ANY INSTRUCTIONS HERE WOULD might RESULT IN breaking of your system, computer, your legs, your picture frame and your house... 1.) type regedit on run. Just regedit. 2.) type “Display1_DownScalingSupported”. Disregard the "". Then wait. 3.) after a few moments. Find anything written “Display1_DownScalingSupported” with the value of 0. Then change the 0 to 1. Reboot your netbook and It would surely work. However, there are chances of your netbook is Asus, it might not work.
