Seasoned Roamer Doggie Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Another ignorant question from a septuagenarian nubie. Do I want to use runestones to enhance a strength, e.g.incantor runestone for the mages, or to counter a weakness, give the tough guys help with magic? Quote
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 You want to use runestones to avoid getting hit by using for evasion, dexterity, or endurance. Damage reduction is probably the next best use. It also depends upon game difficulty level, since for hard and torment you want to avoid damage, but with normal you want to increase damage since you have an easier time killing things. For armor: Deep Runestone = +5% harder to hit Glowing Runestone = +1 to endurance Purity Runestone = +1 to dexterity Emerald Runestone = +4% resistance to physical damage Battle Runestone = +4% magical & elemental resistance Incantor's Runestone = +5% curse, poison, and acid resistance Shamans need more physical damage resistance. Seasoned Roamer Doggie Posted July 21, 2011 Author Posted July 21, 2011 Thanks. Is there any point in saving stones for later use, since new and better weapons and armor keep appearing, or is that the game? Quote
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Armor and weapons improve so you may want to upgrade for your character and pass off older items to the Hands. Most of the runestones are available later so I usually have some left over at the end. Quote
Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Deep Runestones, Golden Runestones and Emerald Runestones are probably the best ones, so those are the only ones really worth saving for equipment you expect to use forever. Conversely, don't put weak runestones like the one that gives +1% to all resistances on equipment that you plan to use for a long time. Quote
Seasoned Roamer Doggie Posted July 21, 2011 Author Posted July 21, 2011 Thanks, Lilith, that was what I was looking for. As a 73 yr old newbie I don't know what I don't know. And i am not Don Rumstead! Quote
