Fledgling Fyora Tao Drifter
I've just discovered the wonderful world of Avernum recently. First of all, a big thank you to the team that developed this game. My question is in regard to patches. I did a search, but didn't get any hits for patch. And on the main page I didn't see any mention of patches. So are there patches for the game that I should install? I'm sure there be more questions in the future, but right now just having fun exploring the game's world.
Magnificent Ornk Dikiyoba
You should have a current version of the game and not need to worry about any patches unless you have an old copy that was downloaded immediately after the release of the game. Which you probably don't, so don't worry about it. Dikiyoba.

Ineffable Wingbolt Arch-Mage Solberg
That is how she rolls with the quick reply. Also, on behalf of myself and many others here...Welcome to Spiderweb Software...please leave your sanity at the door. Post #
Magnificent Ornk Dikiyoba
Argh. Dikiyoba is Dikiyoba (or a gender-neutral pronoun of your choice if you know one), not he or she.
Ineffable Wingbolt Arch-Mage Solberg
I'm sorry if I'm confused about Dikiyoba's gender but apparently I'm not the only one! Post #
Rotghroth Rhapsody RCCCL
If a dinosaur wants you to refer to it in a certain way, you better get with the program, or deal with an angry dinosaur!

Hatchling Cockatrice Quiconque
Dikiyoba's gender is not he or she, but apparently it is bright red. You learn something new every day.
Easygoing Eyebeast The Mystic
My theory is that the only one who can tell a Dikiyora's gender is another Dikiyora. Since Dikiyoba is (I assume) unique to the Spiderweb boards, only he/she/it/whatever (I don't play the pronoun game, Diki, sorry) could give you that sort of information. I for one am not going to waste time on speculation.
Ineffable Wingbolt Erebus the Black
Dikiyoba has a picture of a frog, so maybe he can change his gender at will or according to circumstances like some species of frog?
Kyshakk Koan Mistb0rn
I really don't think that's a frog...

Hatchling Cockatrice Quiconque
Mystic: Different pronouns may seem like a game to you, but they certainly don't to people who are not included in the masculine, feminine, and neuter trichotomy. Also, I don't know about you, but I would be offended if you referred to me as "he/she/it/whatever."
Easygoing Eyebeast The Mystic
No offense was intended, and I apologize if any was taken; gender-nonspecific pronouns just aren't part of my vocabulary. The "he/she/it/whatever" was due solely to a lack of an appropriate pronoun. There's no need to kick me in the teeth because of a subject I totally lack experience in. Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
And a solution has already been provided: forget Schoolhouse Rock, ignore pronouns, and refer to Dikiyoba by name. —Alorael, who is mostly glad not to have to deal with ey and ze. There's nothing wrong with gender-neutral pronouns, but in the absence of any kind of consensus or wide recognition they usual result in more confusion than satisfaction. (Of course, the only way to promote recognition is to use the neologisms, but they're still not quite elegant language yet.)

Hence my ignorance in that department. I think it's better if I stick with the non-pronoun option, just to be safe.
