  1. I feel the game is a bit too easy on Torment _so far_ (got to trapped rebel lair). I steamrolled practically every boss monster I found without much effort. Oftentimes my thought narrration goes like this: "Oh boy oh boy oh boy, zombies! This will HURT! This will really really hu...wait, they fell apart"
  2. On torment? If so, then you must have powergamed quite heavily. The damage that gets dealt per turn there is crazy.
  3. This is the key. I can't imagine doing it on torment witout invulnerability. You just need to be constantly juiced up and hack at the golems.
  4. I disagree with calling Avadon "bland and generic". It is no more generic than Avernum and as to the blandess... the cultures are quite interesting but they are not fleshed out as well as they could have been - which is understandable, seeing as Jeff is only one Jeff.
  5. I saw once an interview with one of the devs, in Polish. I don't want to use words like "nerd", but his approach to the matter was definitely not very mature. He was all awkward, chuckling and winking. Ugh.
  6. But I honestly feel you weren't. You just made a mistake and picked the wrong option and they clearly mark other venues on their webpage. Neither you nor spiderweb are a malicious party here - it is a misunderstainding. They are an indie studio that cares about their customers so they just might give you a refund if you explain the situation as it is - although of course I cannot guarantee it, don't know who handles this kind of stuff there. My Steam version works flawlessly. Their computers are broken, they need new ones.
  7. I didn't read your posts for obvious reasons. I just want to say you are a wonderful person.
  8. All previous games were more expensive on spiderweb than on Steam/GoG. You were not ripped off, you jsut didn't do any research. The main site option is for those true believers who voluntarily want to pay a bit more to support Jeff and his crew. Perhaps you could ask for a refund and repurchase it elsewhere?
  9. Dreaded? Really? LOL I was playing a female tinkermage and the scout was a fellow. I would have to check if the dialogue is different, but I didn't have the impression of him coming on. People bond in the trenches, yo. Hahahaha, hated it for the very same reason.
  10. Of course. We all have our priorities. Consume as you see fit and that's nobody's business.
  11. That's partially because games rarely create interesting situations. Mainstream RPGs just throw some enemies at you and yell "Go!". Jeff creates plenty of crazy setups, with ambushes, reinforcements, spawners, teleporting your party members, etc. But yeah, I play on tormentt, so its probably a bit more intense for me Though I also just make whatever build I like and roll with it. Don't like powergaming.
  12. Really? Jeff's games have some of the most interesting combat situations ever created in tactical games. To willingly cut out this part? Well, to each their own, I suppose.
  13. Jeff, Jeff never changes. One day he will implement UI scaling, so that I don't have to scale down to 720p and enjoy the blur. But this is not that day.
  14. As long as respec is available, I can live with whatever skill systems.
  15. Of course, I am not judging anyone - Jeff's games often offer paths for mad cackling wizards blanketing the countryside with fireballs and it's cool. But just as you can be murderous, you can be also emphatetic. A poster expressed bewilderment about this, hence my retort. And I do feel empathy towards Drakons and Eyebeasts. Both are fascinating species, but my empathy tends to be limited when anything tries to murderize me. I have no problem with reasonable Drakons and Eyebeasts. Not that I met any of the latter kind, but some almost came close.
  16. Doesn't matter to you, but Jeff has a long history of humanizing any and all "hostile" races or factions encountered in his games. I mean, you heard about that "geneforge" game, right?
  17. In order of difficulty - and I think in order of how achievements rank it - it goes Kill Grah Hoth, Escape, Kill Hawthorne. But you can do it any way you wish.
  18. The fact remains they are sentient humanoids with their own primitive culture.
  19. You are for real with this one? Wretches are sentient beings, you know.
  20. This would be welcome too. Again, it wouldn't have to be flashy, it could be just some indirect speech dialogue box having two (or more) options depending wheter you are rebelious or shaperish: "[insert creation name] looks at you with blank obedience, but you can sense muted hatred boiling beneath" or "You talk for a while with [insert creation name] discussing battle tactics and political matters." Of course, it could be more elaborate, changing depending on the actual creation type and your more specific affiliations.
  21. She probably just wants to prop potential rivals to Avernum to stir things a bit. Doesn't mean Kyass is a problem - he just might become one. And anyway, "good for Avernum" can mean different things, depending if we mean Avernum the kingdom or Avernum the realm. Kyass is potentially problematic for the former and potentially positive for the latter.
  22. The Orb doesn't let you fly per se - it simply teleports you to a spot 3 (or was it 4) squares away. You need to find a narrow part of the river, use it and point at the target square. Yeah, I too was disappointed that the orb didn't allow me to fly over water all the time.
  23. I can't remember very well, but I think you first need something else for Khoth to ask you to get the scroll. Something with the black spire quest - did you talk to the people in the archipelago?
