  1. I definitely played around and found easier areas than others, cleared them out, leveled a few times, trained a few times, then came back.

For my Agent, I skipped all areas with Vlish or Podlings until I was a higher level, pretty much seeking out any areas with battle creations because I could handle them much easier. Then once I cleared out some tough roamer/clawbug/bandit areas I would go back to artila/vlish sections at a much higher level than one would think necessary.

It was pretty circuitous, but there are definitely some places where you just need to leave and come back later (either with better items or better skills).

  2. I just went through there last night on my first playthrough of GF5. I'm an Agent with a drips acid steel broadsword, so my main strategy right now is pretty much to burning spray/melee someone or lightning aura them, then move on to everyone else around until all the baddies are getting done 200 points of auto-damage per turn while I just heal/cure myself.

  3. I think that one of the main tactical differences between Exile and Avernum is the huge amount of disabling monster and spell attacks - slow, sleep, paralysis, webbing, etc.

Stun sucks when you don't get a turn, but it's not interesting or as devastating as one of the others. I guess Daze and Terror are similar, but they're much more effective in the party's hands than when monsters cast them. And they're also almost always spells, instead of attacks.

Personally, I think that the balance of attacks in Exile III was absolutely perfect. There were a ton of great spells, a ton of somewhat useless spells that became useful when SP dipped below 10, and the monsters were interesting and different without being contrived.

Some of my favorite dungeons have been the giant lair in Exile III, some Nephil forts, etc. I much prefer facing sentient beings with actual living quarters than a random cave of bats or rats or chitrachs.

  4. It's just that this forum is pretty much exclusively for people who need help in scenarios, and it makes it easier to match people who know the answers with people who have questions if the scenario name and problem are in the subject.

  5. First off, we prefer that you start a different thread each time you have a problem so that people can search for specific issues or specific scenarios. "Help!" is not something people will notice viewing the forum summary.

As for your specific question, try going into combat mode and hasting your party to make it out faster.
