  1. Thank you. Hopefully I can meet jeff and the CREW someday and we have tea and bagels or something. I doubt that will happen but it would be cool and might raise my spirits. Without my lucky rabbits foot, jeff might just like V for Vendetta I bring over. Um yeah that made no sense and now I feel even more unsung. Oh well. "Praise the good, praise them well, in the next century I'll end up in a well."

  2. The year's almost over and my family lost a lot of people this year. I don't let it get me down but sometimes it can backstab me when unaware. I am hoping that this 2014 is a good year for all of you on these forums. This in the good spirit might give me extra strength and hope for a better year to come. Aside from emotional stuff there's spiderweb games to solo and not enough time to solo each a few dozen. God might be in the rain but we won't forget V's good points

  3. I dont know, I am just a fool. I guess there is no telling how much stronger or powerful one character can get when they are already at full power. Whether they make strong leaps every level or small leaps from time to time. Either way that's why there is only one Grandmaster Kane or Athrogate.

  4. So the consensus is that "some health, some skill, maybe spells and ultimately just getting better at what you do." All the games I play have that, lol. Infinity Engine plus NWNights and Fallout 1 and 2. I honestly don't see how Geneforge doesn't make it. All of the infinity engine games are exactly like that. You make your big changes early on, little changes later on. That's as close as you will get for my version of that term. The other interpretations are too dang confusing. The Quest, you don't get much stronger past level 10 and the highest level is 40 or 50. Eschalon and the new jeff games don't constitute whatsoever, Avernum especially. Avernum the Pit and Avadon you are constantly making big changes throughout leveling which doesn't make sense. Once you get to a point, you just get mildly better a little at a time. Would Elminster get much stronger at a higher level than he is currently. Heck no! He is already capable of destroying anything. He just gets mildly better with each level at that point. Kotor 1 and 2 are on that list which I just created :/

  5. In that case I think Eschalon would classify. You get some health, sp and some stats that don't do as much as other. Skills for weapons and what not are what make your character slowly get stronger. I think that stats do very little in eschalon compared to weapon skills.

The Quest is more diverse. You don't get health when you level, you don't even get mana or sp. You get stats that are somewhat useful. Strength and dexterity are only mildly important with damage. They affect what skills you get. Intelligence and endurance are more important because they actually give magic points and health. Skills are like Eschalon the most damaging effects for weapons and magic.

Geneforge 1 is the closest with fallout 1 and 2. You get some health and other points but really you gain less the more you rise in level. At level 10 I had to invest more in weapon skills for a minor gain. The thing with that is that you are already so powerful at that point it doesn't even matter. Once you get beyond higher levels you just become harder to kill and weapon points are maxed, very much like infinity engine rpgs.

  6. Sometimes I start to wonder what that even means? I read on Gamefaqs that Baldurs Gate 1 and 2, Fallout 1 and 2 and Icewind Dale 1-all have oldschool leveling systems in the rpg. That is I guess because your stats don't level up for the most part. What doesn't make sense is a few things. Planescape torment is similar but because you gain a stat point every level I guess not.

Geneforge series is oldschool like those games but follows the same as Planescape. However, like the BG and IWD games you make most of your changes or improvements early on to level 9-11. So in essence they are similar to oldschool.

I just want to discuss what is oldchool in leveling design. I am going to guess and say that Avernum remake and all Avadon are far from oldschool in leveling systems but that would just be a farce. I guess there are really no realistics in rpg video game leveling systems.

Eschalon and Divine Divinity in 'their' terms are not oldschool. Those gamefaq guys confuse me sometimes :(

  7. I decided that I am going to solo this game first and then go to Avadon 2. I will go and Solo the SLith King and then go further at a later time. The Slith King is the real main quest anyway.

I know its more worthwhile to go all strength with fighters and I am going with a Fighter/healer combo.

Although seeing as I am going to need some resistance to cold attacks so I don't get destroyed, I figured that endurance every 4 levels isn't too bad. Wouldn't it be pointless anyway to go through the roof with strength.

You are getting so many levels so the extra health will matter moreso than 5 strength at end game. You will get all items since solo gives all equipment to me.

  8. I don't remember Avadon 1 much for the ap system but I tried making a tank for all 3 fighter classes Bladewarrior, Shadowalker and Tinkermage and its crazy hard. The ap system is harder than Avernum and Geneforge as once you engage you cant disengage. I always thought that Avadon 1 when I completed it a while back had the same ap deal as Avernum.

I didn't mind Avernum's but this one is unique. I think I just used a shadowalker who used marksman weapons in the 1st game but don't remember if Ap was the same.

I am not exactly sure if you have played Avadon and its sequel but is there a trick to getting to attack targets and whatever. I usualy activate my melee bladelash on an enemy and am always scrambling around trying to not get surrounded. Put points in strength and endurance because a guide said dexterity got nerfed. I had an idea to use parry 5% from shield, the belt at the facility that gives 5% and keep on adding parry items until I get at least 20% parry like Geneforge. With strength for damage and endurance for soaking it. What could be wrong.

As long as I can play a Shadowalker or Tinkermage that is a tank, I will be pleased.

Parry's ideal amount needs to be discussed-I hope for at least 15%

Minimizing damage is important but isn't endurance where that comes from?

What should you do in melee without wasting rounds, hoped to use melee move on every but it seems better to use reg attacks.

  9. Guys have ever payed atention on hunds called Pit-Bred in Avadon 2 found in dungeons I think or it is just me :D

So is that just reference to Brad Pit or Jeff is making jokes of him :D

*Love is one reason to live*

It is possible as Brad Pitt is a pretty openminded guy. The only celebrity that I remember reading about regarding spiderweb was R. Kelly. That one alone amazed me

  10. Prompted Query-It would appear that red beard is very powerful in the first game. Some of the tales about him are told of in legend. Whenever a red-haired boy in the tawon perishes, one of his soon to be grey hairs on his beard gets turned fiery red. Because the tawon was very powerful in first game, there would be no limit to guesses on how powerful he was then.

In the 2nd game that effect is lifted.

  11. Perfectly healthy, here. Keep your germs off the forums, you sickies.

Irritated answer-Master, I would like to keep my germs off of you but the thing is I am not human nor am I a meat bag. So the ability to keep germs is impossible. It would be possible if I had more advanced technology or a cyborg but frankly we are not at that point yet, ya know?

  12. Yes of course. He who can turn trajkov into an ornk, never slight from regular pain be it headaches and throwing up. But getting a relentless cough for me is terrible. My constitution would be at a 16 to start if I existed in that world. Its still the same but a nasty nasty weakness to poison do I get.

And then as soon as the cough turns for the worst, a migraine headache comes along like a claw bug on shore leave.

I just started the Zitromax or whatever today and its helping but yesterday and the day before were just AWFUL.

Some of my coughs can last 2 months, Yikes. Hope this one doesnt.

  13. It would be awesome for just a few characters. If it works for Avadon, a very small romance of certain npcs would be epicness!

Geneforge 2-Male characters can woo Shanti with claw bugs as the flower girls.

Geneforge 1-Female characters can woo Brodus blade with Glahhks pouring sparkling cider at wedding (alcohol makes me dizzy)

Alright maybe those are bad examples but I am trying :)

I think Greta would be an excellent choice in later games 4 and 5 but I only completed 4 so I don't know completely.

Another thing if jeff is going to be implementing romance features in his rpgs people will eventually want all options like Winter Wolves and Baldurs Gate series.

  14. I dont understand Chaotic Good and Neutral Good. They just seem like some laws and no law belief. If a thief is neutral good is it because they are stealing from someone who can spare it? Wouldn't that make them Chaotic Neutral. Wait, Chaotic Neutral is the psycho who breaks someone's arm and then buys an apple pie for them. Chaotic Good is just no belief in laws but good in nature. ( Im Chaotic Neutral but Im nice)

Is Jeff's alignment Lawful good by the way? He seems like a paladin.

  15. Jeff Vogel-Lawful Good

    Moritz-Kri-Chaotic Evil

    Shadowbeast-Chaotic Evil

How would the player character become more chaotic or lawful during the game? I don't understand neutral good and chaotic good's difference in Avadon. It seems like Chaotic neutral fits the player in all of the gene forge games as you go back and forth. Avernum is more like the good guys.

  16. Wretches-Chaotic Evil

    Goblins-Chaotic Evil

Turrets in Avadon 2-Lawful Neutral They don't have a master and just blow people up. They are following the law of who created them. Their goal is to destroy.

    Sevelin-Neutral Good

    Shima-Chaotic Good

    Nathalie-Chaotic Neutral

    Jenell-True Neutral-Druid?

Pylon-Lawful Neutral, it just sends you where you want to go. It doesn't have a master?

    Shadowtarkus-Lawful Evil

Let me know if I missed anyone

  17. Jeez Louise! This stuff is good. What I like is the alignment system in those games. I am playing Temple but the alignments aren't as good as some of the others I hear. Does jeff base any of his characters or npcs on the Dungeons alignment system?

    -Redbeard Lawful Neutral

    -Hawthorn Lawful Evil

    -Grah Hoth-Chaotic Evil

    -Slith ssThss Chaotic Evil

-Trajkov Not sure of this one

    -Agent Greta Not sure

    -Miranda Not sure

    -Guardian Alwan Lawful neutral

    -Ornks True neutral

    -Glahhks Chaotic Evil

    -Vlish Chaotic Evil

This stuff is really cool. It exists in Spiderweb games and in DnD as well.

  18. Ok here goes-

One-I want a genetically intelligent and artistic thadh that can sing christmas carols when I ask him to.

Two-I want Trajkov to come to my parents house and have a discussion on evolution with my family.

Three-I want Miranda to join up with Steven Sweeney the turncoat and try and see where their discussion leads. I will moderate to make sure no one casts any spells to aid their argument. No cheating is allowed!

Four-I want Slarty to stay a longer time as he is full of awesome and fun to have around!

Five-I want randomizer to become a mini boss in the next Avadon.

Six-I want a miniseries of one of jeff's games to happen sometime in my lifetime. I am 17 so 10 years is a good date to get everyone ready.

Seven-I want to explain the merits of playing fair in a poker game with Lagran. It is easy to cheat but is worth it to be honest.

Eight-I want more old school rpgs to come out in the future.

Nine-I want V for Vendetta to be required and mandatory to watch at all schools in the world.

Ten-I want Jeff Vogel and Tom Riegsecker to get together for coffee and discuss the merits of being awesome and full of vigor.

Eleven-I want to be able to cast magic so I can create chocolates to send to all forum members here!

Twelve-I want all Spiderweb members to live to 230 years old as per Christopher reeves cell reconstructive plan. Hopefully I can take it before I reach 42 years old.

Those are all the things I want. I lost track of a few of them but I think I might just be ducky, onward!
