  1. No, this is what I've been doing: Download and install Avernum 4 demo and start to play. Purchase A4 and A5 on CDrom with the booklets. I don't install A5 until I get the CD in the mail and then install it directly from CD. When I launch A5, it comes up as unregistered. Also, my mom bought me G5 for christmas and had them ship the CD to me. When I installed and launched G5, it came up unregistered. I might be missing a step somewhere, but I definitely didn't have the demos for A5 and G5.
  2. I hate to disagree, but I've downloaded demos of a few games and then purchased them, and I've also purchased CD's without downloading the demo and installed directly from the CD, and they're *not* already registered that way. You install the game from CD and then launch it and it still says "unregistered" until you enter the key. But I can't enter the key until I email Jeff to ask for it. That's why I say it's kind of odd. But again, it hasn't been a problem because they are so responsive. Just odd, that's all.
  3. I haven't had any problem, in fact I'm impressed with how quickly they respond. But I do think it's an odd way of doing it. Here's what I mean: I always order the CD and booklet because that way I can re-install later if my computer bites the big one. So they mail me the CD, booklet and a printed page with my order details, and what looks like the registration page, but it's blank where the codes should be, just like in the original post here. I would think that since someone is stuffing these materials into the envelope to mail, they could write the code on the sheet, right, and save them having to respond to an email later. Or is there something I'm missing? (It's also confusing to the purchaser, though. I mean, many of us are more used to companies with horrible customer service, so when we see the blank page, I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks "great...")
  4. So I'm playing Romans first. One of my guys is a healer and spell-caster. He's learned some spells that he can't cast. For example he knows "hovering feet" but can't cast it because he doesn't have the craft circle skills. Over on the skills side of the info screen, the two bottom druid skill categories are grayed out. How do I get them usable? Or are Romans not allowed to do those last two circles?
  5. I've found a few scrolls here and there, but I can't find any way to read/use them. The description of the scrolls says something about if I could read them they may be useful. Does that mean that I don't have the intelligence level, or some skill to allow me to read them? They don't have the little lightening-bolt "use this" button when I see them in my inventory. Advice?
  6. I had a great time playing GF4, but I can't make a few of the artifacts because I'm missing a couple items. The Book of Answers says that a Deep Focus Orb is needed to make both the shapemaster boots and the sunstone belt, however I only found one orb in Eliza's Bunker. Similarly, the book says that unmelting ice is needed to make both the sunstone belt and the girdle of succor but there was only one ice in the wrecked labs. Is this a bug or is it deliberate that we have to choose which item to make at the expense of the other?
  7. Ahh, sorry, I forgot to mention I'm on Mac... I'm pretty sure I tried all the ctrl/apple/whatever keys in combination with clicking, but I'll try again. Maybe I missed one.
  8. Hmm, it seems to ignore my right-click, nothing happens. I'm on G3 version 1.0.1. Is it possible I'm missing a patch or update?
  9. I'm having a great time playing Geneforge 3. One thing I haven't figured out - and I've been experimenting and looking through the Book of Answers and I don't see this one: how do you reprogram the quick spell buttons? At the beginning of the game, I set them to be the spells that I had at the time. Which are not my strongest spells now that I've levelled up a bunch. So I want to change them. Can this be done?
