  1. OK, my friend got into the security section of properties and edited the check-off column so that I ended up really taking over as admin not just a token!! I now have lit up lockpicks and sparkly switches......thanks again "The Turtle Moves".
  2. You guessed right-windows7. And similar to Daisy Munchkin,in the attatched, it won't let me replace the file once the change is made, even though I've taken over as administrator....Thanks for the tip about the admin. Right now I'm waiting for a friend to get back to me......
  3. The Turtle Moves-re "A Small Lockpick Cheat", I found the "avitemschars.txt" and added the new line "it_graphic_appearadj=64;", but when I tried to save the change, it denied me! I guess I'm not as smart as I thought I was! What do I need to do?

  5. Just recd Avadon c/w electronic Book of Answers. Problem, after printing, I find the the BofA is missing Area 3, Zhethron's lair! The pages are all there, it's the area that's missing... Question, any of you fans receive an actual factory printed Book of Answers and if so does it include Area 3?? Cause if it does, I'll wait as mine is on the way!
  6. Thanks for your responses- I am very much aware of being overloaded and avoid it so we can scratch that one. One cannot always AVOID BEING SWARMED but I try. It was a bad choice of words. Thanks for the tip about G1-3. I've played all the Geneforge, all the Avernum and the one Nethergate, and now on my second time around while they finish up the latest fro Spiderweb, and just hadn't noticed this level of "stunning" in the past. Mod, thanks for your tip on speed pods. I've got the speed spell in my current package, didn't realize it would augment my AP that much! Definately a boost, too bad it has such a short life......My problem is with any number of opponents from two on up and not just glaaks
  7. My stats are...lev28-str7-dex5-int5-end7-mel5-mis3 If you need more give me a holler. My problem seems to occur mostly with multiple opponents, when I get swarmed and going head to head with something or somebody.... I keep missing the target and my AP's don't get replenished on a regular basis! The amount can fluctuate from a high of eight to a low of one. Sometimes I'm lucky to score one hit out of five! Makes for a pain in the butt slow game! Look forward to your ideas.....
  8. OK, thanks for the insight. I'm headed east and Danette's ghost/shade. Logan, it's been my understanding that in the Spiderweb games no number indicates "1", so Geneforge would be Geneforge 1.....
  9. According to the Book of Answers this this area is full of monsters. Yah,right! It's full, allright! I'm not complaining, but how full is full? I've gained 3 levels this past week, received all kinds of loot but I don't have freedom of movement! As soon as I venture out into the passageways, I get swarmed by drayks, glaks and those big red suckers, sometimes all at once....game over! So I hide in the entranceway with my back to the escape route, or in a little room in the south/west corner, wedged between a table/bench and the wall. One or the other lasts for half a dozen battles then I get swarmed and the glaks finish me off. Question-is there a spawner somewhere in this dungeon, or is there hope of killing all the monsters?? Thanks....
  10. Earth Empires, I thought the answers to your questions were all yes, but you got me thinking about the bandits at Fort Saffron. So I went back and I found I had done an incomplete job. I'm going to clean it up and then try Levitt again.....Thanks for your help!
  11. I found a belt that gives my mage another point in Spellcraft and that took care of the barrier. One problem solved. Now will someone pls tell what I need/got to do to get Levitt to give me the Dorikas quest??
  12. I go back to Levitt and he keeps telling me that Fort Saffron is my next dest and to see if the commander has detected any bandit activity and that the location of Dork would be a great prize. I then go to the Fort & talk to the Com and she tells me she has heard the Spire Fortress has been retaken ('cause I told her!). And Agent Miers has left the Spire Fortress ('cause I told him, too!) Now where in all this was I supposed to find out about Dork's location to tell Levitt?? And I don't have any open quests related to Dork or the DS Loyalists......
  13. After I killed Dervish Hecht in Spire Fortress, I told Agent Miers, Commanders Elphaba and Levitt, but the latter never gave me a new quest. Was there something I was supposed to do in between Hecht & Levitt??
  14. I don't seem to have a specific quest for Dorikas, so that must be the problem for the entry through the rune! Who gives that quest? Regarding the Dispel Barrier, my mage skill=11, Spellcraft=6 Magery=5 & Spell Level=2 for a totatl = 24. How much do I need?
  15. Madrigan, thanks for trying. I did "walk" over the two runes mentioned in my post. Now, there is one other area I can't get into and that's the one with the barrier. My Mage, level 36, only has level 2 Dispel barrier spell which doesn't work. I suppose that could be the reason the other entry won't open??
  16. I'm trying to enter a hatch beyond a wall after killing off the Lich. To do this Matt P's walkthrough tells me to Hit the unusal rune to the north and it will open up a new area......"hit", with what? I thought he meant "use" it with the left side of the mouse...all that accomplishes is for my lead fighter to jump on the rune (the green, scrolly one to the south of the wall of the cubicle I think I'm trying to get into!) There is another rune to the left and further north, just south of the north wall of the Ruin, but that doesn't work either. Help would be appreciated.
  17. There is a sealed gate on the west side of MR just above the centre that says I need a key. I'm sure this is the entrance to SC and the question is, where is the key?

  20. According to the Book of Answers I have to leave via Aziraph Rebel Camp for Sentinel Graves or by Northern Fens for Burwood South Rd, but I cant find an exit anywhere! Need some help please. I've killed Monarch and freed all the fens, what am I missing?
  21. A happy ending after all! I did have one saved game with the caravan just ready to go that I had already used 3 times and then gave up on it and came here for help. Fourth time lucky, I guess! Something Diki said about they should be waiting in Spirefield stuck in my my mind so I gave it one more try, and sure enough the suckers were off to the right, immediatly after the entrance and I had missed them three times running, literaly, as I was running after them and looking straight ahead! Too impatient.. Sorry for the trouble.....
  22. Diki, I did cross into Spirefield and they weren't there and Master 1, I guess your right, I got too cautious. I may have to start over if Cairn Gates is the only way out of chapter 1!! Thanks to you both for your responses....
  23. Delayed contacting the caravan until I had cleaned out all of the all of the other locations, including Sinkhole Bridge & the n/w corner of Cairn Gates (where all off the shapers are.... Then I made contact, escorted them out of Sinkhole, watching them all go out the travel exit.....and that's the last I saw of them . They are not in Spirefield (I had already cleaned out the shaper camp). Matt P's walkthrough suggests they should be waiting in Cairn Gates, but I should head north and talk to a drakon, Warmaster Karikiss, who's nowhere to be found either! And all the shapers are still waiting in the n/w corner and the caravan is gone.....Sounds like I screwed up by cleaning up but how do I fix it up?? Help.
  24. OK, never mind. I just made up me mind, got them into a corner, one after the other and hammered the hell out of them....felt good, too! Now to make up my mind on what to go around as next time.
