hardiness helps and yes it's always decision (hard or not that hard) where to put skillpoints (especially on casters who don't use melee weapons much so investing on sword and pole skills isn't that useful besides getting hardiness etc).

basilisk games had/has similar games but as only solo character not party.

unless using full melee party thenas long as casters do dmg and fighters keep enemies away from casters it's fine as long as no magic nullified then it becomes "interesting".

having not played geneforges (besides testing for others having problems) new title doesn't mean anything.

gwgardner: later when you get better equipments which lower your hit chance you'll miss hits due that and enemies have higher chance to evade hits.

veteran players have played avernums solo (varioud builds, even as priest of anama or whatever is name of that crazy cult) on torment, maybe a bit tougher early but lvling up quicker smooths that.

on what virtualization program? just tested a6 on virtual xp64 and game works fine. using vwmware for virtualization.

dev set's price + profit and steam etc adds it's own profit and later both prolly cut profits etc.

anything is possible but different thing if it happens since tablet ports are/were made by 3rd party so if they fubar up work jeff vogel gets blame. other thing if nintendo would allow sw-games on switch (and if allows how much it costs aka is it worth it).

still persist on remakes, if kills attackers then town etc will become hostile so either avoid or kill and loot and use cheat to pacify town etc.

shadowwalker benefits most from razordisks but there aren't many situations where sw needs to use ranged attack instead melee attack.

luck is good to have but to noticing its effect is different thing.

yea best thing is to uninstall game and reinstall it.

do you have any security software installed? it's also possible that antivirus etc blocks game's access to graphic card or prevents it to run at all beyond resolution questionnaire and thereby game won't launch (I had that issue with A1-3 remakes and still some issues even I have reported Avernum*.exes as false positives).

unless is completionist then no need to get all spells to L3, just healing and curing spells and boost and protection spells and major dmg spells (lightning spray, firestorm, icy rain, smite etc).

tried to get missing L3 spells in ARW but after not getting 1 spell from where it was supposed to be (in library in that town where party gets thrown to jail quite quickly) even after reading all books I gave up and moved on.

yea like 50 fake buttons and players searching in darkness that right button.

did you do uninstall and reinstall (with fresh download)? either some game file is damaged or some file in windows is damaged. do you have averbum6dx.exe in game folder? if yes try that.

few years and A4-6 might need remakes so A7 or 0 postponed.

somewhat sadly it's easy to miss something and if can't go back then suffers from it rest of game (I missed 1 of those best helmets on that tower which was filled with quickfire after killing it's owner and after getting out that tower was gone and noticed too late that didn't loot all).
