I knew that! It's still massive, so my point still doesn't work. Sig changed. Sorry.

But when you consider that OaStA was Alcritas' debut... And then AtG was Stareye's... Um. Never mind.

Can we get a banner on the BoE page saying BLADES IS STILL ALIVE! REALLY! with a link to the Lyceum? Thanks.

From us, he deserves as much respect as I do from you or you do from me. That's just common civility. But when he's buggered people around like that, he loses a certain amount of that right.

And you have thirteen posts, LF. WBS: Re your comment about how cool it is that somebody would send JV such a letter - No offense, but why? Jeff isn't god or anything. He isn't an authority figure and he certainly doesn't deserve the respect of designers of Shyguy's (or TM's, or the Creator's) caliber.

Mass Sanctuary + Bless + lots of tolerance for boring hacking = infallible solution

You've contributed your incredible personality, Alec. And introduced the 'commentary scenario'. That's quite enough from you.

*claps for all* Jeff must know how good some of the scenarios out there are. He judged the first contest, and people improve with time. With Tatterdemalion and Nephil's Gambit made in the first year of Blades, anyone with half a brain knows even better stuff will come with time. How can he keep pulling all this "AUGHAUGAUGH YOU WILL NEVER ACHIEVE TEH MASTERWORKS AS FUN 2 PLAY AS BANDIT BUSYWORK SO I SHAL NOT GIVE U TEH TOOLS" bull****? Man. He said on that thread, and admittedly it was a while ago, that he needed non-designer players to ask for things. WELL, MISTER VOGEL, I THINK YOU SHOULD CHANGE THINGS, IF YOU EVER READ THIS THREAD, WHICH YOU LIKELY WON'T. x non-designer Rosycat

But it hasn't been updated for two-three years or thereabouts. I like milu's site for new graphics, but mostly I just pull graphics out of other peoples' scenarios (where permission is given).

IoB? Funny, that was the scenario TM smited me for ranking really low, saying I was a newbie stomping all over his scenarios. Heh.

Off-topic, but sorta RE Kel's post about TMs first post I think all those crappy designers who release one scenario should be encouraged to stick around. SM Adventurer said once on the Lyc that he had improved a lot on every scenario he had ever made. Well... look at Terror's Martyr. His first scenario got a 1.67 on the CSR. His latest (for BoE) got a 9.23, and will be considered a must-play for noobs everywhere. I mean, roxxors yo. This could happen for other designers... well... Zxquez sorta demolishes my argument... but he hasn't made twenty scenarios yet! He could still create a timeless classic! EDIT: Also, after all this time I never expected my first topic to be so popular.

Cause I was positive he was pretty well-established by the time I rolled around, and Aran didn't come till about six months after I did. I never would have put them in the same era. Not to nitpick Kelandon, just... is TGM an ageless man? o_O

Nope. It's a generational thing. Aran and I will become oldbies if we're still around when TM is gone. If anything, join date has more to do with it than post count. Also, I wouldn't call Arancaytar and myself newbies, either. Middle of the road, maybe, a bit on the new side.

If that's what they mean, which I'm not sure they do, just look up the sounds in the indexes of the Help Manual.

EDIT: Never mind.

Malkriss is all nephs.

Avernum 2 is the best plot-wise and also fun-wise, IMO. Avernum 3 is the best size-wise and if you want piles of stuff to do. I'd register Blades in a year or two; there'll be way more third-party scenarios. There'll also be a bigger community of scenario developers with more knowledge and skill with the engine to help you out.
-
ben - just wanted to mention Malkriss to you... I don't think there are any magic users until the end battle. There's a link to it on the Lyceum.

My favoured party (level 20 or so) consists of Aescal: your basic pole-weapons slith. Strong like bull, smart like tractor. High assassination, strength, speed, and pole weapons. Has that halberd from the unicorn scenario. Kleia: my thief. Most people don't make their thieves that strong because of the image of the quick assassin, but in Exile that doesn't work so well. 'Cause the thief is going to be disarming traps, they have high life and immunities. She's also good with edged weapons. Faugar: bowman, alchemist and mage. He's only a level four mage, but that's all you need, which is basically the point of this post. Mages aren't that important at all. He's good to have because of Move Mountains, hasting and the occasional fireball. Betel: Maceman, artifacts (orb and scroll) manager, level seven priest. Tyra: Swordswoman and level seven priest. Priests are the key. Priests are way more important and necessary than mages, because of healing, curing disease and paralysis and other reasons. The Wound spell does high amounts of damage to almost any monster at fairly low cost. I've beaten Falling Stars with this party.

\^o^/ EDIT: Never mind. TM did it.
