  1. There are quite a few people who have decided against vaccinating their children for horrible illnesses, but I assume this has more to do with these people being horribly retarded and unfit for parenting than any sort of misinformation. They hear what they want to hear and wind up killing their children and spreading disease. God bless America and all its wonderful mavericks.

  2. I liked it. Honestly, I would have liked to see a bit more.

    Minor spoilers:

The only issue I noticed was that the town design for the first town didn't lend itself to the way the scenario was structured. The author wants the player to visit certain people in a specific order, but gives the player free range of the town to run into various "can't go there yet" messages. It would have been better to structure the town similar to the forest path, where the player would naturally run across the various townsfolk he needed to talk to in the appropriate order without interrupting the narrative.

Otherwise, everything was good. I think the scenario could have used a bit of fleshing out in places, but it was compelling and I enjoyed playing it.

  4. I just stared playing Fallout Tactics for the first time ever. Aside from the clunky interface, it's really good. Not too big on narrative, but the gameplay is like someone reached into my brain and constructed a game out of everything I love.

Thirdly, this usage places a (warranted?) stigma of immaturity on the forum as a whole.

You're arguing this while pretending that you're a pony from a cartoon.

To be honest, I can't stand MLP or image macros, but it's not worth crying over because it's not anyone's place to dictate how others should behave.
  6. I've always been interested in computer programming, but the only class I've ever taken was woefully inadequate and didn't let the students advance at their own pace. Now that I'm out of school, I'd like to try to teach myself.

I've already learned a bit of the basics by teaching myself how to write scripts in Blades of Avernum, so I was curious as to what the next step would be. Any ideas or recommendations?

That's what I was afraid of. frown

Hopefully, this will turn out to be a good thing.

Wait, you get to play guitar in high school? I wish my school had offered that opportunity.
  9. View of Lake Michigan

This is the last picture I took from the balcony of the lakeside cottage that has been in my family for nearly 60 years. It's been sold, recently, and will be torn down later this year to make room for a modern dwelling. This was one of the last relics from my childhood. No matter what changed in my life, I could always count on the large family reunions we'd have there every summer. Unfortunately, things change and that anchor's aweigh.

  10. It was supposed to be two movies until Jackson and his higher ups realized they could milk it for three. There really isn't any other explanation.

If the "richness" of the story had called for a third movie the first time the scripts were laid out, the producers would have been more than ecstatic to greenlight it. It's not like this is some unknown property handled by an inexperienced director; the profit is already there.

  11. The purpose of comedy is to entertain, so it really comes down to whether or not your audience will appreciate the humor. In this case, most people would probably agree that it was in really bad taste (and not funny enough to justify the backlash).

  12. Jeff made quite a few significant changes to the way stats are allocated in his most recent two titles, so I suspect that he will continue to improve. I agree that character building is probably the worst aspect of his games, though. The important question is whether or not he would attract more customers with something as magnificent as the D&D engines for this sort of thing.

  13. How is anyone supposed to answer these questions accurately? Maybe that isn't the point, but even if people could look at themselves objectively enough to answer these somewhat accurately, they're still going to tend to mitigate anything negative.
