  1. I'll probably be done with the game soon, but sure. I'll have to remember your little mod for when I play G3. I downloaded it so hopefully I don't forget. Just wondering, are there any challenge zones in the game? Zones with nothing but a challenge for the brave and/or the sadistic.
  2. Ooh, that's a shame. I just found a leader's sword and thought the +2 to creation strength was pretty sweet.
  3. I want to play a guardian. I also want to play an agent. Maybe in the future when I replay the game. I feel shaper is the class the game is meant to be played with, at least the first time through.
  4. Indeed they are. I tried one pair quite a few times before giving up. Just today I've disarmed two other sets. Good thing loading a saved game takes no time at all.
  5. I'll try to remember that for when I get to G3. I'll be playing Avadon 1 next, so G3 will be after that. Early on I was treating my creations as disposable. Now I'm trying my best to keep them alive, reloading if one dies. Maybe I'll add a small question here. What do I do when there are two disarm-able mines close to each other? I can disarm one, but I'm close enough to trigger the other one. Is that just more for a character who can take one blast?
  6. Since I went with magic shaping in Geneforge 1, I thought I'd go with fire this time around. I added another Cryoa and found a huge roamer. I also have enough essence left over so I can do quite a bit of healing and blessing. All in all, things are going swimmingly.
  7. I'm playing on normal at the moment. I started with tricky, but felt every place I went was a "come back when stronger" kind of place. I'm running just two cryoa's. I don't really have problems in combat. When I said instant death, I mean things like entering a zone that has a damage aura, or whatever. Before I realize what's going on, I'm dead. The Thahd dump grounds was anoying as well, those thahds with a auras. Then in another zone, entered a house that had some kind of poison going on in it. Dead before I could turn myself around. I do want to get a third creation going. Not sure what it will be.
  8. Thanks for the information. I ended up just experimenting a bit, comparing new creation to one I had for a while. I'm enjoying the game so far. The only complaint is that I keep running into instant death. I'm a shaper. Maybe I just need to play better, such as scouting ahead with my creations.
  9. Just a couple of quick questions regarding creations. - Do I get any benefit for keeping a creation and leveling it up through experience? I know in G1 is was better to make new creations over time. -When I level up a shaping skill, should I absorb the effected creations and make new ones? Edit: Or I could just experiment in game.
  10. Ah.. well. I'm a bit too soft, I suppose. I wouldn't last a day in Avernum.
  11. Just an odd thing from my last session. I found the path from the Dark River area to the Azure Gallery. I ended up pushing through, killing all the creatures that got in my way. All in the name of completing a quest. Then I meet beastkeeper Vyck (I think that's her name). She's hysterical since I was slaughtering her creatures. And then I felt really bad. It's just a game, but most games don't make me feel like this. On the same note, I made it to the Anama scrolls for that wizard guy. Even though the Anama kind of betrayed me, I decided to leave the scrolls there. I feel they had no choice for what they did, so I forgave them.
  12. My retention of information is rather low, so maybe I did talk to people that said they went North. The game has been fun so far. I'm in Drake Pillars now and finding a lot of stuff is too difficult for me at the moment. I'm only playing on hard. I like it, it makes me wonder what's past those difficult spots and will come back later to find out.
  13. I'm just going to pretend the priest in my party thought the river rapids would be a wicked ride.
  14. I was just wondering if there was a narrative reason to be going down the river other than curiosity. Yep, I keep a lot of saves, I'm paranoid.
  15. I'm on the "Northern Frontier" quest and not sure where to go. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to assume I can travel down the river rapids. Cienna doesn't tell me much. I've explored everything that I can before going over the one way rapids. I just don't think I have an in-game role playing reason to go the way of the rapids, as in nobody told me to.
  16. I'll get there some day. Unless I die, then I have bigger things to worry about.
  17. Double posting. I pushed through and finished the game. I'm glad I played it. Combat became a bit samey, but part of it was because I just had three terror vlish. I'll probably play Avernum 5 next.
  18. I know what you mean. In A2 I'll never experience for the first time going down that river and the strange lands you end up in. I only stumbled across these games early in the year, but they've been the only games I've been playing ever since. I own most of the games too, except A3:RW and Avadon 3.
  19. Oh, I'll still be sure to clear out as many of the zones as possible.I did the Shaper Crypt up to the locked door. That took some time, but I'm only playing it on tricky. I played A4 before Geneforge 1 and that looks like the same engine as A5. I don't mind going back a generation of engines. I plan on going back to BoA someday. Oh my, so many Spiderweb Software games to play.
  20. The game started out slow for me, then it quickly picked up and I was hooked on it. I am sure I'm getting close to the end and it's seeming to drag on. Combat doesn't get too engaging. I'm level 21 and most things don't give experience, so character growth has slowed down a lot. I miss having to gear up four different party members and deal with assigning their stats with may options. I feel I've been stuck with my creation configuration because it works, but at the same time gets a bit boring. I thought after this I'd go straight to Geneforge 2, but now thinking I might do Avernum 5. I'm not sure yet. Geneforge 1 is still a fun game and I'm glad I bought and starting playing the series.
  21. I'm trying to play as blind as possible (But I do falter on some things). In game, I haven't felt compelled to choose a side or anything. Knowing there could be rewards isn't quite enough from a role playing perspective. I also feel like I don't know the 3 groups well enough, though I could choose one if I had to.
  22. I don't think I should start a new topic for this question? Still in Geneforge 1 (I'm addicted to canisters). Will I ever feel a need to join a faction? I'm probably more than halfway through the game at this point.
  23. I may as well post a quick question here. Do any stats pass on to creations? Stats like resistance or armour from items.
  24. I'm thinking "unplayable" comes from playing modern SWS games and going back to that old Avernum engine that Nethergate runs on.
