  1. Drakey, what is it you do these days, anyway, when not making RiB? =D
  2. …or would if I came out with a couple scenarios for it. Good, thought through ones that take awhile to put together. Not anything of the caliber of that great artist, Vince Fizz.
  3. the forum header (the list of untried scenarios, to be specific) hasn't changed in what seems to be over a year. Can we nominate someone (or can one of the moderators do it?) to be responsible for doing that list?
  4. I think that Jeff Vogel's universe is fine and dandy with the three primary (mid level, as opposed to higher, such as vahnatai, or lower, such as trogs, giants, and ogres) available to to the player. Lower or higher level humanoids would just unbalance everything.
  5. I wouldn't worry about tehGRICH or tehGRICH2 if I were you…
  6. Hardest can sometimes be (when you're a college student who is currently addicted to other games) beginning. Planning can be easy enough, I do that in my head or in doodles (hence the simplicity of all of my released scenarios…all one of them). I find it hard to find the time. Also hard emotionally is when you've put a lot of work into one scenario that's just bound to be the next FS, and Windows pulls some gay crap about putting your files (actual files, not shortcuts, for some gay-odd reason) on your taskbar, only to have you naively delete them, thinking that they're shortcuts, thereby deleting half of the games on your harddrive and all your BoE work. Ever. Because your old computer had the files from way back when cut off them. I think there's a topic or something or other from that time where I lost all motivation for BoE. EDIT: BTW, does anybody know if BoE works with Linux? EDIT2: And who came up with the brilliant idea of new titles? [/sarcasm] …sorry, I should shut up. I'm having a bad week and I let it bleed into here.

  8. Name (the one you want me to refer you as): E-Mail Adress: Platform: Previous Beta Experience: BoE Playing Skill - please be honest: Desert Plah desertp at juno dot com PC Too many to remember. One of TM's, maybe, lots of n00b ones. Have successful designer experience. Skill: Better than you . Actually been playing for several years, so I know what I'm doing. I may have a little bit too much of the "seen-it-all" attitude (I had it real bad once, then I played Tomorrow).
  9. *sigh* Let's just say that I go to a college that sees fit to ban sites/pages that fall under the category of "Interactive/Chat" for whatever reason. Oddly enough, the Lyceum is the ONLY site I've come across that gets this ban activated. Hence, I cannot view the page. I can't use Google's cache to view the page, because Google didn't have a cache page on it.
  10. Hey, the blocker won't let me see the lyceum, some details please? (and yes, I've tried the standard methods of getting around internet blockers.)
  11. A bow then, I say, in tribute. *bow* He won't ever see that. Meh. Shows everyone else my respect for him. And gets me another post, I guess.
  12. I was actually going to name it "Kamikaze", just because that's the song I was listening to at the time, it's sounds cool, and it hasn't been chosen for a scenario name yet. EDIT: Thuryl's gone? Since when?
  13. Just had to listen to some old Five Iron Frenzy to get some inspiration.
  14. Yeah. It's probably time for me to go AWOL to write a scenario.
  15. Ash, I'm not sure you realize the gravity of this method. I don't remember Drizzt's method (I never got far enough in Shadow of a Stranger to figure it out), but this allows teleportation from any town at any time to any town. You could do an easy time machine with it! You wouldn't ever have to worry about it being an all-towns scenario. You get done talking to Mayor Shifty about delivering something to whoever in whatever city, then you just teleport right in front of him to the town! Maybe you do realize the gravity, and are just better at not spazing about things…
  16. Yeah, soon as I get started on that scenario based around the word "meat" (thank you very much, Thuryl). I actually have a few options with that, BTW. I could go the route of Kingdom of Loathing (if you don't know, look it up), and have meat be the currency in a ridiculous kingdom. I could have meat as one of the proto-missions in a bigger story ("son, I need you to fetch some meat at the store" then the town is attacked while you're there) that's a rather lame excuse, though. Or I could think of something totally unrelated to the concept of meat and just have something sound similar or some other loophole.
  17. Sweet. EDIT: I move that Wonko get's the title "Resident BoE Genius" (or that I get the title "Sir Talks-too-much-for-his-own-good"). EDIT2: I got the impression that it might slow it down because of a reference in the help manual that a town timer called too often may slow a scenario down, and I've never really played with that enough to know what it's talking about.
  18. Holy cwap that's pure genius! Wow, you could even have a text input (talking to an orb, say) and it'd be easy to define the key words, because you know the town names! Holy cwap you're a genius! EDIT: The first thing I thought when I read your post was that it would slow the game down a lot, calling a special that often (every turn). Though I suppose it'd have to be tested to determine that. Maybe I don't know what I'm yakking about.
  19. And other people prefer to keep resurrection limited to Exile games, rather than the forums. EDIT: Ouch. I got burned. Bad.
  20. Drakey, tell my again, WHY you have a rogue in the first place?
  21. Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen a worse excuse to spam…
  22. Quote: Originally written by When in the course of Nathan Ashby: Ouch. That tribute took me a while to figure out. -- Also, I'm interested in seeing your meat-based scenario when it comes out. Are you going to make the player fight a cult of militant vegetarians? A villainous necromancer who has stolen all the meat from a whole Imperial province to make flesh golems? Mmmh... Yes, I have to say, it's not a very obvious tribute. And no, I won't make it on any of those, but I won't tell you what it will be about (also, I can't right now, because I don't know.)
  23. *silent grin* In tribute, then:
  24. Say one word. It's for the good of BoE. I'll make a decent scenario out of it by the end March this time next year.
