Garrulous Glaahk Meri20098
I'm almost done with the avernum series and I was thinking of trying Avadon. What are your thoughts on the games? And one big thing that is a make or break for me is can you use the arrow keys to move around or is it click to walk only like Geneforge? Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
The map system is taken from Geneforge. The game is easier for some character classes than others. Using a shadowwalker (thief) or sorceress (spells) makes it easier to unlock things so you need fewer lock picks. This helpful for a few solo areas. The first game had a great exploit where if you concentrated on dexterity and some endurance, you could be surrounded by enemies and stunned without getting too damaged. This was fixed in the second game so only the tinkermage class could do it.
Unflappable Drayk Edgwyn
I enjoyed both Avadons. There is a substantial difference between the Avadon games and the Avernum games. Avadon is fairly linear, more morally ambiguous, class based as opposed to skill based, five PCs (six in Avadon 2) but you can only use three at a time, smaller number of spells, etc.
Hatchling Cockatrice Slawbug
Actually, surprisingly enough, Avadon 2 arguably has more spells than A2:CS does. 11 per class makes 5 total, and that's not counting abilities that you can only get through scarabs, of which there are a decent number. A2:CS has 56 if you include the 12 battle disciplines.
