Is it possible for a party of Romans to free the fairy trapped by the crones in the body of a wolf?

There appears to be a dialog option for this, but I can't figure out how to make it happen.

You need the bone key to open the lock.
"I don't know how we can ever repay you!" - Rescued damsel in distress
"Oh, I'm sure we can think of something .... How much gold do you have?" - "Hero"

"We're all screwed if Cthulhu shows up. Try to enjoy life in the meantime." - Adam Rawnsley

I have the bone key, but when I try to use it I get a message to the effect that 'your arm feels like it has been stung by bees, you drop the key and it immediately disappears, you think you can hear the crones laughing, and the wolf looks even more forlorn' (paraphrased).

No, it's not possible. Or at least, I've never figured out a way to do it. :(

Thanks; that makes sense.

What has me confused is that in the .txt file for this dungeon, there is an option that shows the fairy being released. However, I am not clever enough to figure out what that means.

If you're playing as the Celts, you can free the wolf.  For whatever reason, you're just not allowed to do so as Romans.

"Dikiyoba didn't know what to say for your negatives, Triumph. Dikiyoba supposes you must just be that awesome." - Dikiyoba
"Triumph == Santa Claus? This explains... nothing." - Dintiradan
"Per usual, Triumph said it better." - Slarty

I guess the hags don't want you getting too chummy with the faeries.
