Chittering Clawbug Captain Obvious
this message is for photoshop users, as the name says. it is also for photoshop element users. do you want to make avernum graphics, but don't know how? do you hate going and individually defining each part of the walls/terrain/creatures? well i have a solution. recently i decided to make some custom graphics. as i started i realized how tedious a process it really was. well, if you know anything about photoshop you know that you can save selections. i have saved selections for making walls. this includes the light effects, and the walls themselves. so all you have to do is find a texture, drop and darken the parts that need to be darkened and do the same for the parts that need to be lightened. soon i plan on having a few for basic creatures (sliths, nephilim, humans, and vahnatai) and a few for items and various types of terrain. if anyone would like these presets, just drop a post with your email. i didn't know where to submit such a thing, so i posted it here. enjoy. note: i also have one for more advanced walls such as windows/doors/etc. these are a little harder to work, but much easier then doing them by hand. Chittering Clawbug Captain Obvious
will be sent right after i finish this post. do you know how to use them? if no: brief tutorial: first open photoshop load the appropriate template (the file) top menu: SELECT, load selection (Complete Selection or something along those lines) acquire texture select texture top menu: EDIT, define pattern tool: PAINTBUCKET setting: PATTERN fill selection top menu: SELECT, load selection (darken and then lighten, you should know what to do with those, change as necessary) SAVE AS (preset selections do not transfer to new projects to my knowledge) note: Vahnatai Selections done. Next in the agenda = UNKNOWN mwahahahahaha (it will be something interesting)
Curious Artila Pachat
Why not make the luminance of the walls a layer of its own with mode set as darken and the actual texture as another layer with the bacground masked out. That way you could just open the file (.psd), paste the texture to the right layer and save as appropriate.
Chittering Clawbug Captain Obvious
Mainly because I love doing things the hard way. But beyond that, I didn't think about it. I just did it the easiest way I could think of, which was saved selections, and then adjusting the color variations. Edit: beyond that, it makes it easier to edit every part of the object exclusively. this is extremely usefull for creatures and such. Update: a large library of textures has been converted by me into patterns, this is also available
