Tenderfoot Thahd Anak
Um hey I was just wondering why the text on the main menu buttons in Exile 3 and Blades of Exile are um not there... Also trying to talk to NPCs in game shows no text only the icon of their face. This is on WinXP. Anyone else seen this?
Unflappable Drayk The Loquacious Lord Grimm
Never seen it before, and I have both on XP. My suggestion: back up any saves and reinstall. -------------------- The Silent Assassin has devised a new security system for the bunker. To my knowledge, he has not let anyone else in on what it is or how it works. Which may explain why it sounds like the cat just now got catapulted up the laundry chute. Rotghroth Rhapsody Tyranicus.
I experienced this exact problem with XP Pro. Here is how to solve this issue: Right-click on the shortcut for the game. Select Properties. Select the Compatibility. There should be check-box that says: "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" with a dropdown menu box below it. Check this box and ensure that either Windows 95 or Windows 98 is selected. Click OK. The problem should be solved. It worked for me anyway.
Tenderfoot Thahd Anak
Didnt do anything for me. It's exactly as it was before. I tried the demo on a different computer using XP pro and it does the same thing. Main screen buttons have no text and dialogue is missing
Easygoing Eyebeast The Mystic
I use WinXP Home, and there's no problems.
Rotghroth Rhapsody Tyranicus.
It also could be a graphics issue. In compatibility mode tab, try selecting "Runin 256 colors", and see if that works.
Tenderfoot Thahd Anak
Nah that makes things go even more wonky. It flips back and forth constantly. But guess what. Win95 compatibility mode works on XP Pro! Unfortunatley this my work computer so playing here isn't much of an option. I guess I could try using Avernum but I like the old Exile graphics I fell in love with so many years ago... edit: Hey, just to test I turned off compatibility mode and it still works.. The only thing that's different today is that the computer has been restarted since installing the game, after doing a few XP updates. I'm going to try this at home. Tenderfoot Thahd Anak
ooooh I know. Got it figured out now. I moved it after installing it. But when I just did a quick re-install and ran it from the default location it works fine. edit: k cancel that.. I know for sure what's going on.. I originally just copied BoE from a backup, didnt install it. At work here, I downloaded and isntalled Exile 3 demo even with moving it after it makes both work fine. Uninstall Exile 3 and BoE stops showing text. So in conclusion it's my own fault for not installing it properly. I thought I had. Was thinking of a different game Exile 2 or something...
