Curious Artila FightCat
Levent, Ilhan (actually it's with a capital "i" in Turkish), Sibel, Okan, maybe others I have not met yet or have escaped my mind right now. So many Turkish names commonly used in modern Turkish language can't be some coincidence. I wonder if you would reveal what's the relation please ? Thanks in advance. Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
Sometimes Jeff just likes to give people names according to a theme. The Sholai in Geneforge had Russian names, for example.
Easygoing Eyebeast Jerakeen
Wouldn't surprise me a bit if it was deliberate. The Kellem names all have a French flair...don't know about Khemeria, but Jeff was clearly trying to give each nation its own distinct ethnicity, and he's not above borrowing from the real world, literature, or pop culture. Curious Artila FightCat
Hmm, so it all owes to this Jeff guy naming NPCs attributing to another nation each time he needs names. Okay. Impressed by him knowing those names though. Whole world thinks we consist of 35 million Ahmets and 35 million Mehmets.
Hatchling Cockatrice Quiconque
The Russian names all came from a single literary source; it's possible the Turkish names do too.
Unflappable Drayk Ceiling Durkheim
For that matter, such Dharamites as we encounter tend to have Greek names, which is appropriate for a society that seems based at least in broad strokes on classical Athens. Tawon seems to include at least a few Roman names, though once again the sample is pretty small, and that would also accord with its role as the empire that formerly dominated much of the continent. Ineffable Wingbolt Superba
Khemeria might come from Conan's barbarian Cimmeria.
