Unflappable Drayk Ceiling Durkheim
Sorry: to clarify, that question was addressed to Rowen, regarding Nephilim and Slithzerikai.
Well-Actually War Trall Rowen
Should not be playable in A2 and onward. I understand why they are and it makes sense plot of Avernum. The reason why is nothing more then personal taste and me being stubborn. If once race can do everything just fine, why add more?
Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
Rakshasi has been used as the plural of rakshasas, notably by TM in his Blades scenarios about rakshasa life and times and philosophy. Rakshhasi is more properly the term for a female. Rakshasas are demons. They don't play well with others. Undead are monsters, and most lack intelligence. Those that do have it generally lack the will to play well with others, and instead usually haunt (literally and figuratively) elaborate crypts and bedevil adventurers. Golems would make nice additions to a party, but they're not actually thinking creatures. Maintenance would probably be a problem as well. Demons are demons. Troglodytes are the most reasonable option. The biggest problem is that they don't really get along with humans at all. The sliths and nephilim eventually became at least partially friendly. The troglos just disappeared from the series. Maybe they just holed up in Valorim. Maybe they wage a constant war against the Empire. They're not adventuring. —Alorael, who thinks the biggest problem is that adventurers would kill just about all of these on sight for experience and loot. It was hard enough to train humans to stop killing the sliths and nephils, and they're humanoid, not filled with malevolent power, and not generally brought about by dark rituals or malicious sorcery. Troglos are the only ones on the list who are known to be born. None of them have no magic inherent in their existence (troglos were extinct until Rentar recreated them.), and only golems don't require evil magic to create or conjure.
