Seasoned Roamer Doggie Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Love this game , but I am over 70 and new to this and I don't understand the difference between haste and speed. What is the difference between damage from curse and magic and mental effects? Quote
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Haste and speed used to do the same things before Avernum 5 and Geneforge 5 games. Now haste gives you a 33% chance that your first action only use 5 action points instead of the usual 9. Speed increases the number of your actions points by 5 so you have time for a second action or at least one action even when slowed. A weaken curse reduces the damage that you do by 4 damage levels (it used to be 20%). Slowing gives you a 33% chance that you won't act in a given round. Daze (mental effect) means you can't attack until you are damaged to remove the daze. Charm (mental effect) means you can attack your allies. Magical effects is a general term for blessings, curses, poison, and acid damage. Welcome to Spiderweb Software. Please leave your sanity at the door. It helps with understanding the instructions since Jeff writes them just before game release and doesn't always add the corrections to make it understandable and/or correct. Quote
Tenderfoot Thahd Monolith Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Whoa, over 70? You're awesome! My dad is only in his 50's and gets confused by Solitaire! lol Quote
Seasoned Roamer Doggie Posted July 5, 2011 Author Posted July 5, 2011 Am having trouble increasing PC protection against Mental attacks and Curses. Am I missing something? Quote
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Mental attacks are intelligence and even with very high intelligence you still can get them. Even with a blademaster ability I got terrorized and same for 80%+ for shadowwalker and sorceress. Curses I think are intelligence but I rarely see anyone resist them. Quote
Seasoned Roamer Doggie Posted July 5, 2011 Author Posted July 5, 2011 Thanks again, Randomizer. Guess I need to do more playing and less thinking! Quote
Seasoned Roamer Doggie Posted July 5, 2011 Author Posted July 5, 2011 Last, I hope, ignorant question. What is energy resistance? Quote
Easygoing Eyebeast Jerakeen Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Energy = Magic damage, like lightning or Spirit Claw. Quote
