A6 - 1.0.3 Installation

So Avernum is acting up again (I click, it flashes up, but doesn't load) so I'm going to reinstall it, but I don't want to loose my progress at this point, and I'd like to get the new .3 version. The description of how to install:

"To upgrade, just download the demo and install it over your old copy of the game."

So I downloaded it again, not uninstalling first, and found an icon called Avernum6Demo on my desktop. It asked me if I wanted to repair or remove the software, with no install option. I thought that since they were two different versions, I could install one, and it would 'overwrite' the other, but that's not what seems to be happening... I really don't want to uninstall before getting feedback from you guys and end up losing all my progress. So what exactly is a computer confused person supposed to do?

 

 

Edit: oh damn this was supposed to go in tech support. Oh well... I never use anything but this section O_o

just copy the save folder in the data folder put it somewhere else maybe renaming it so it won't be overwriten or from what i know just uninstall and reinstall the game and the save files are never deleted/overwriten but do the former first then do the latter

[Randomizer]

Save files and the game preference file (including your registration) should be unaffected by over writing the game. But why take a chance when you can spend a minute to back them up.
