Curious Artila Zkal
Hello, is there a maximum level for your characters in Blades of Avernum ?
Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
In theory, no (or at least not one you'll ever have to worry about). By giving experience to the party through scripts (for example, in the High Level Party Maker), it's possible to get to a level of 1000 or more. However, you'll stop gaining experience from killing level-100 monsters at level 120, and monsters can't go above level 100. So if you only gain experience from killing monsters and not from scripted calls, 120 is the maximum level.
Well-Actually War Trall Niemand
Also the game begins to misbehave as skills and level become so high that important values like health and damage done become to large for the game to store, making them take on essentially random values, which may even be negative. For this reason it doesn't really work very well to go to levels any higher than the 250 generated by the High Level Party Maker.
Magnificent Ornk Kelandon
For that matter, you will start getting game errors (which don't affect anything but look bad) as you pass level 50 or 60 or 70 (depending heavily on your stats). The game clearly becomes a little clunky at high double digits.
Rotghroth Rhapsody Ouroboros
I think you get the message saying that your skill is reset to zero.
Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
You do indeed get that message, but it doesn't actually reset anything.
Rotghroth Rhapsody Ouroboros
But the resistance did reset to zero.
Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
That only affects the displayed numbers, not the actual numbers. It's purely cosmetic.
