  1. EDIT: Actually, I bet you could set off the trap, run back to the portal, leave the zone and return, and the spawned monster would be gone. Not sure though.

    He won't. But if you went with your tank character, you should be able to take all items during 2 turns, and your tanky char should easily survive this and following escape. I did like this, leaving that undead behind teleporter.

  2. I left Tower of Magii at hard and couldn't do nothing there... so I was going north and every time nothing was beatable. Nor Mertis undeads, nor undeads from boat quest, nor brigands from honeycomb. Then I finally found some dungeon. Nephar Fortress, but there, I was doing complete masaccre on enemies. I'm really wondering where I should go with 14 lvl party, but seems like what Randomizer said. Doing some random mini-quests there and there. I never had such situation in A:eftp, even on torment. Like having in one moment ~20+ quests to do.

I know mechanics req. for having clearance (22 rep if i remember correctly from Randomizer thread)... but if I read everything correctly, the heroes of Avernum 2 are the only ones in the universe that visited Vahanatai and prevented pretty huge cataclysm! I doubt there is any other band of adventurers what is more "proven" that mine. You know, there are still negotations about Vahnatai and Avernum about using portal to Vahnatai lands and possible meetings, while I have personal quest to recover souls crystals... but still, not even clearance! And I need it only to use portal or meet with Solberg or so. Even if such heroes will die, what Avernum is wasting? Just clearance, that's all. :)

     

    Im not even talking about something like learning spells for free, because it's basic of the game balance. But getting clearance should not make any bad thing to the gameplay itself. Some monsters in some arena are not beatable after using teleport/clearance? Get exp elswehere like it was always.

  4. Hey! I just saved entire human race from Vahnatai genocide, but I still need to have enough reputation to have clearance...

    I just can't say to the guy from portals, that I need to use it, to have chance to destroy empire mass teleport! What his reponse? I need clearance.

    I still love this game... but that doesn't make sense. After going back from Vahnatai they should give me instantly demonslayer, other "super" stuff with all passes and personal mini-army of battlemages to slay everyone... ok, skip the last one, but still.

    Imho, pretty serious plothole. :(

  5. Lava spear is great for first mage. While Slith is using steel spear, armor and protection from lava helps a lot second char, who in most cases is in a lot of trouble.

     

     

    And even AEFTP did have an Arcane Lore trainer.

    Imho Erica as a arcane lore trainer is useless. By the time you can get pass her monsters you should have already sage lore.

    Basically, in A:EFTP Sage Lore is no-brainer choice. While in theory going to learn from Erica, then going to Stagnant Tunnels should be little more profitable, her monsters are really terrible on torment.

  6. Not Avernum 4/6.

    All old Avernums are damn unplayable after starting from A:EFTP.

    Weird system of character creation (games is giving 0 info about it you, no idea if it's better to raise main stats or weapon specialisation etc.), stupid system of teachers, no bag to hold all loot so a lot of time wasted by going from dungeon to city endlessly to sell some stuff. Also, in Avernum 4 and 6 map is horrible, completely unrealistic with 2 cities for example being so close to each other, that they're almost the one. World map from A:EFTP is really gorgeous. I spend 100h trying to complete Avernum 4, but I gave up after doing half of it, It's really weird and in comparision to A:EFTP lame.

    Damn, now I want once again to play A:EFTP. Almost perfect game. :C

However, I still found the moral issue stronger in Avadon in terms of staying loyal versus rebelling as opposed to Avernum 1 where an evil corrupt government threw you and a bunch of other innocent people in a hole and now you need to either escape or prevent it from happening to others in the future or kill off a Demon.

    You know, you can always find exit and then report to Thantria, here you are, your empire run. ; )

    But the entire point is that Avernum is never saying that you have choice, at the start of Avadon there are plenty dialogues about how you can prevent specific thread in the way YOU want. But you can't.

  8. Thanks. Saw high price, and I quickly hid it into pocket. Wisdom crystals, potions, so nice from Jeff. ; p

    As for 3 lvl of bolt of fire, I got theory. Maybe it because my mage started game with some mage spells, and priest no. I just gave her at 2 or 3 lvl 1 point of mage spells, and maybe that's why she's able to have 3 lvl of fire bolt.
