  1. I am also quite thrilled. Just watched the whole hour from RPG watch and now I am digging into the manual. I also don't know what class I will pick. I guess, I will pick each character, take a look at the talent tree and decide after that. From the video he seemed quite strong. But the guy played on normal and I can imagine that on torment it will look a little differently. It might even be annoying to have some additional RNG (random number generator) in the fight in form of the turrets which you can't control directly.
  2. Heya, not sure if it's already known but the manual for Avadon 2 is already available here: ftp://ftp.spidweb.com/documentation/Avadon%202%20Instructions.pdf Was the first hit when I googled for "avadon dexterity sooner in combat". Hope this is actually news, otherwise you can delete this thread.
  3. As this is a thread linked in the strategy central I hope nobody minds that I am digging it out: Is it already known whether Avadon 2 will work the same? Will there be no stacking of the skill? The skill reads "whenever your group attemps"...so, does it stack now? What about the Spell? Will it make any sense to train the spell together with the skill? Edit: Aaand from the manual I can answer that myself: " If more than one character has one of these skills, only the highest one is used."
  4. Well, in other current games (World of Warcraft/ Civilization 5 to name just two) you normally have the following options: Windowed Fullscreen(windowed) Fullscreen We arrived in an age where lots of players use two screens. And while you use your main screen for playing, you can comfortably use the second screen for something else - like checking mails, forums or whatnot. This however does not work in Fullscreen. Because each time you click on the other screen, the task is minimized and windows has to load. If you click on it again, it is reopened, and windows loads once again. Windows is allocating basically all its ressources to the task in fullscreen and reduces the process power of the background tasks. That's a completely different story in windowed mode (both Fullscreen(windowed) and Fullscreen). The process power assigned to these tasks stays the same, even if you switch to another task. For dual screen users that makes it easy to switch to another screen. But in most windowed mode games you either set the resolution of your window beforehand - or you can dynamically resize it. In Spiderweb games you can do none of it. It leaves 50 pixels to the left, and 50 to the right, 40 on the top and 40 on the bottom. That's not helpful for anything. So my question is, whether there is an option to "fix" that. Maybe setting the resolution in a ini file or something like that.
  5. Heya, when I start the game (Avadon/Avernum) in fullscreen everything is fine. But when I select the windowed mode and select the same resoltion (1920x1080) the game window shrinks a bit. When frapsing it, the final video has a resolution of only 1816x1000. So I'd like to know if there is any way to use the full screen in windowed mode. Ideally even without the windows bar with the X on top right. Well, if there are additional options in the new Avadon game then nevermind, but I guess it has the same settings.
  6. Guess so. Have you seen the income reports from the dude making Dwarf Fortress? Well, he isn't getting rich of course, but I wouldn't underestimate it. As I mentioned before I think a kickstarter project would be a great thing - or just a merchandise shop if he really dislikes kickstarter. Would love to buy (potentially overprized) Shirts, Cloth Maps, Posters and whatnot from this game. And I I am sure that lots of people in this community would not hesitate to spend more money for the game than "necessary".
  7. Thanks! I guess the production value of Nethergate isn't higher either? Might be best choice for me then to wait till the next Avernum. Especially if there is a chance that Avernum 4,5,6 will be redone at some point, too. Not a big fan of seeing the same content twice, even if it's in different graphics.
  8. Heyho, in the past I played Avadon, Avernum Escape from the Pit and checked out Geneforge. Now I am wondering whether I should get Avernum 4/5/6 or Nethergate. And I though this would be the best place for such a "generic" question. What I didn't like about Avadon was the very guided way you had to play the game, the very constructed game layout (every party member runs away and has a quest) and the very last part and the ending. The general story and the topic about whether or not it's good to "enforce" piece was great. Avernum Escape from the Pit on the other hand - loved the open world, the difficulty was great (I love challenges in games) and while the main story wasn't as good as in Avadon I think it was still very good and I liked the writing in the general quests quite much...even though spider might have been a little too silly. ^^ Did every single Achievement in Avernum and spent 159 hours in that game. So yes, I loved it. Somwhere I mentioned before that I think the Graphics and sound in Spiderweb gaes could massively benefit from kickstarter to buy some new assets. Buying new Art and Music to use in multiple games, but that's not really the topic here. The graphics and sound effects were something I could live with in Avadon and Avernum. I disabled the background noise/music as it was just horrible and replaced it by some Nox Arcana tunes. Geneforge hower...well...I goess there is my boarder of "what I can get over with". The first four I couldn't stand longer than a couple of minutes and the 5th one was somewhat "boarderline" and I played it for just 4h. So, now there are 3 more Avernum games out there and I am wondering: Was Avernum Eftp a new version of the first three games as one game? How much content is in Avernum 4,5 and 6? Do these games play after Avernum Eftp? Can you take over your heroes from 4 to 5 to 6? Like back in the days in EOB, Ishar, Wizardry, Realms of Arkania...well you got it. How much content is in Nethergate? Can I play the games in the same resolution as Avernum Eftp/ Avadon? As far as I can see Avernum/Avadon have achievements while the others haven't. Were Avernum 4,5,6 and Nethergate older games which were "ported" to steam later on like Geneforge? Would you recommend Avernum 4,5,6 and Nethergate to me? And what makes them awesome? I know that I could probably have found most of these answers somewhere with lots of digging. But...I think the one or another might also be happy to talk about their favorite game and so I'd like to hear it from you.
