  1. Sure thing. First of all it is spelled 'please' but I have no room to talk I probably didnt spell anything right. A good party: For a beginner, have all 4 people. Condensed parties are only good if you know how to spend a tight budget of points. Have a priest. You do not beat a game for the first time without a healer unless you are God. Or maybe Alorael. Have a well balanced setup too. Have a dedicated melee with some defense to keep you off the ground, and give him raise dead scrolls since he will most likely always survive a sticky situation. Alternatively you can just walk back to a city real fast...thats what I do. For me the second character is a slith polearm user, since sliths are naturally .. well.. badass with polearms. First time through I made a dedicated nephilim/tool use character, but I quickly learned that once agian Jeff made rangers completely fail. So have a tool use character, just make it a nephilim with priest skill or another melee. Last character I usualy do a mage/priest with more attention to priest. If you made the nephilim above a priest make this one just a mage. Always remember to buff before hard fights and SAVE ALOT. Nothing is more annoying than dying right before your autosave happens again and your back 30 minutes of work. Have lots of first aid and nature lore, and hold on to anything that might seem valuable, because some person in some town will always have a quest for it, But dont hoard everything. Save food as once again the need for eating food at a regular basis was reinstated. If you have a dual weild character you should give him quick action so he hits 4 times a round. This is very Over powered. Also just a endgame tip: Battle frenzy was improperly descibed in the tooltip. Dont use it, adreneline rush is just much better. People who are actually good may now correct me.
  2. Thats the issue. Again a nephilim would be a bonus there, I'l probably incorporate a few points into my main guy.
  3. Not too sad of the loss of a devoted ranger, as Jeff decided that ranging should go neglected again. At least we shined in A4 right? The main issue beginning game with this is that the game kinda drags ass getting you polearms. But hey, you dont get a good bow the entire game so it could be worse
  4. On recent restart of avnerum I started a new party setup i'd like to open up for people to tell me the obivous reason why its all wrong. So this is what I have. Character 1: Human custom. Dual weild quick action (NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH QUICK STRIKE) to hit 4 times a round which I find superior to just 1 or 2. His off talent is mage. I chose mage for this guy becuase he duals as my tank so mages can get the talent to cast in armor. This guy is my spaceclear and utilitarian as well as just huge damage. Has tiny bow ability to take out ranged things without wasting spellpoints. Inventory carries around quest items and spare weapons/sellables. I give return life scrolls to this character in case of emergency. Defence intentionally kept low to allow riptose to enhance damage output. Shielding spells can conpensate, as well as endurance. Character 2: Slith polearm/priest. Polearms can be amazingly high hitting by end game and superior to dualweild for a period of time in the early game Also sliths are natural priests. He is my focused damage as well as side healer. He carries food and reagents. Also has small bow skill for ranged small fights. I try to keep this guy out of the way, but invest points in parry to keep him safe. I simply buff before fights if I need to be a juggernaut. Also the main perk is I get a decent excuse to invest points in intellegense so I can get Anatomy and later lethal blow. My dualweild 4 hitter per attack can be amazingly deadly with lethal blow. I find this setup is easier to not lose anone and still covers everything. Thoughts?

  6. Agreed that the old Avernum was a good engine, but the latter ones had a few features from Geneforge that were rather nice.....All in all, though having to follow yourself around on the keyboard the whole get gets annoying, its still cooler. Also by Avernum 6 Jeff reimplemented dual weilding, which has been missed since....well, Exile.
  7. No problem at all. And about that double checking, I cant find my party I had around that section of the game and I really dont wanna play through that far just to see if Athrons tunnel is there....if that makes sense.
  8. No sir I am not. I havent even gotten that far in Exile 1 before. Although I MAY be confusing this with Avernum-III. I will double-check such facts.
  9. Conveniently, there is a secret passage that will take you right from the inside of the barrier to her cave to her. Less fortunate for you, you gain this insight a bit too late.
