The one with the looping water
-
Yeah, I have the exact same problem as yours. I run AVG8 (and I don't want to update because I know it will become a much larger resource hog) and every time I need to scan, I have to shut everything else down or the scan will take up to 3 times longer (to scan ~800k files unabated it takes around 5 hours) and the scan can sometimes cut my internet connection. On the other hand, if I don't mind the wait I can run things on dosbox and other old machine emulators or play solitare while I'm waiting.

I suggest heading to Mertis and clearing some of the honeycomb monsters first, also, the first brigand fight in the Abyss is optional let them be for the time being.( It's Abyss business anyway...)

Never heard of the man, only marginally heard of the book. So yeah...

REhashing an old subject: Am I the only one here who had his nuclear plant meltdown a month after I built it in simcity?

I wanted to ask why the ancient continents of Atlantis and Ys weren't added, but then it hit me that Atlantis is in fact in west Europe and Ys is part of Oceania.
As for Elephants, a rabbi once told me that when god split all human tongues, at the end of the tower of babylon affair, he did it by turning all humans into two groups, one of monkeys and the other of elephants, that's how they can reconcile with both the theory of evolution and the hebrew name for an elephant
Reader discretion and critique thinking is advised -
How did you make the poll anyways? Did you actually sit down and write all of the options you could think of and then hit "poll" or did you just throw in a random/approximate number, listed the first things you could think of first and just filled in the rest by ear?

If wer'e already on the subject of pics, there's been something I've been hankering to ask you guys for.
I remember reading a while back about how the picture/gif of the chitrach has been changed to that of a clawbug, and I've been searching for a pic comparing them. Apart from downloading all E&A demos I've searched all over.
I would be very grateful if someone could post an "evolution of the chitrach" strip showing how it changed along the games. Specifically a pic of each chitrach from E1-3+BoE, A1-6+BOA & the new avernum.
Thanks in advance.

As much as I love Scrubs, I feel that this topic really needs the stuffing the mailbox pic. Could someone post it?

In that case I want to see a GIFTSP in Jeff's next game (GIFT+spiderpig).
"SpiderPig SpiderPig,
does whatever a spiderpig does,
cam he hang from a thread,
no he can't he's a pig,
SpiderPig X4"

My basic question is what is the difference between poison and acid?
I can imagine that acid is any corrosive substance which is applied to the outside of the body, while poisons are induced by inhalation or being bitten or stabbed by a poisoned weapon/fang/claw etc...
Another thing that makes me go hmmm is the way the game treats poisons as something that creates an ongoing damaging effect while in real life most poisons and venoms have more of a debilitating effect, which would be more on par with the old nausea in exile or more of a "it's just a matter of time before you are dead" effect.
Things like CO, ammonia, sarin, mustard gas, cyanide, black mamba venom, box jellyfish stings, etc... are affected slightly by weight but once they are in your bloodstream (in sufficient quantity) it doesn't matter how muscular you are, you are as good as dead unless a proper anti venom is administered within minutes. You can keep walking around, if you can withstand the pain, but you don't suffer damage as much as you feel in pain or numb.
And true, there are lesser poisons of spiders, scorpions and snakes which can make you lose an appendage, but that is more of a max hitpoint reduction and a permanent curse than a constant small hit point reduction. (and also really lesser poisons such as of bees, wasps and mosquitoes, but, unless you're allergic, they rather some up more as a nuisance than a hit)
Another thing is: isn't an acid (such as cyanide), once it hits your bloodstream, considered a poison? So wouldn't any acid effect (maybe after several turns) would add a poison effect.

What? You mean the ones trying to rip your arms off or the ones trying to gobble your foot from the heel? The Gnass nursery pretty much (for me) depicts a picture of sliths being crocodile or alligator bipeds rather than lizardmen, gecko-men or even kimodo dragon bipeds (especially when you consider the elongated snouts in the pics). If they were more lizard like they would have been plucking insects out of the air. -
IIRC there's a borowable boat at Gladwell's tower which automatically returns to him after a while (when you're not in it)

You mean sloths, right? Sliths are in no way cute unless you're a parcelmouth(b.sp.), they might be pretty or shiny (or dangerous or magnificent), but in no way cute. -
Well, in a playthrough you're supposed to share all of your experiences while you play. Who you attacked, how you defeated them, who you talked to, what spells and skills you procured. So far this isn't much of anything, just a "hi I've started to play and would like some tips".
Another thing to look out for is a bug/feature where (IIRC) some spell books appear one more time than they should which allows you to raise the spell level to 5, but if you read all books of a specific spell before buying a spell level from the shop the shop will only let you reach level 4.

retracted, I'm tired and because you had to answer so fast now I can't delete :humph:

So back to the OP, remember to give tool use to your mage, as this is the game where it stacks with the unlock spell.
And @xsi: I'll assume your being funny (otherwise my paranoia will get out of hand )

Very nice.
I don't think that up to this day I have ever seen that film.
But you will agree that it requires some updates -

How about this : Scale
What have you been reading recently?

Of late, I have been reading The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It's a simple little story, but I'm enjoying that simplicity and easy writing style, for now. Philosophy and theory is interesting, but it's nice to have a breath of fresh air every now and then.
I read that a while back ( I think its even posted on the wall here somewhere). To me it felt more like a philosophy for a dime sort of book (you know, like who moved my cheese or the monk who sold his ferrari), still enjoyed it though it didn't leave much of an impact.
Just that we are on the same page here, it's the one starting with a kid meeting king solomon, right?
