  1. Like many other things on classic, they have been lost when Apple started using Intel macs with Leopard. While this is very unlikely to happen, I've decided to broach the topic. Will Exile ever be ported to Intel? I know this might sound silly, but maybe they will become open-source, as it would be hard for Jeff to port them to Intel because he hasn't simply the time. It also might help popularize them with the newer comers, as they seem more into Geneforge, later Avernums, etc.

  2. Well I try to have all my characters with a minimal priest skill, perhaps up to Summon Shade. Then I can have Warriors with heavy armor cast smite and dispel a demon when necessary.

Dual wielding I only have on my priest. I find with high speed and some dexterity, it pays off. Besides skill with melee weapons, dual wielding, and some strength.

  3. Yes, usually Blessed equipment is very light. I am about half or so through the game and I have a dual wielding priest who is very dexterous, good with dual wielding, melee weapons, and strength. He is a knockout fighter, actually one of my best.

  4. Both hands are up now. I am one of the largest Physics nerds you will ever meet. I LOVE it. Same with almost every other kind of science, especially astronomy. And yes, I remember Carl Sagan and the man is a bloody genius. His show the cosmos was delightfully enlightening. And 42 is much more like God actually.

  5. I actually recommend Avernum and then Nethergate. But download all demos. Take it from someone who has been with Spiderweb since the release of Avernum 1 and I know Spiderweb. First I played Exile, but that's almost definitely not backwards compatible. So go from Avernum 1-3 then do BOA. That'll get you involved more with Spiderweb community. Then if you like move to Geneforge. Though Geneforge looks cooler there's sooooo much more to Avernum. Especially A1-A3. Geneforge will suck you in with it's deep multi-plot. So that's me an experienced spiderweb gamer

  6. Well in a way magic DEFINES the Avernum series, maybe more so than it defines Geneforge. Magic is to Avernum as Science is to our World, it makes everything in it work and it makes everything in it make sense, if you are an Avernum NPC. And as far as teleportation goes, Avernum wouldn't be without it. How would you get to Avernum without teleporters, a shovel? And in Avernum 4/5 it is like a car, it revolutionizes the way you travel, and in A5 it makes a good part of the plot possible. It's perfect: pop into the throne room zap, boom done. Your party does the same in Avernum 1.
