  1. Armor and resistances are calculated by multiplying the armor factors together and not adding them. For instance with two 25% armor items:

    Armor = [1 - (1-.25)(1-.25)] x 100% = 43.75% instead of 50% that you get when adding them together.

When you have several armor pieces then removing one piece doesn't shift the total as much.

I still don't understand the formula, could you use an example!!!

  2. I find it pretty amazing that the game is not linear, and i can go kill some nephlimis, or go kill sliths, i can go to any city i want, do what i want!!!

I still dont know what to level and when to do it, so i keep every player with the points from 1 level just there in case i need more str or i need more lock picking or whatever.

The thing is my hardrive crashed and i lost all the data, had no backup of any of my games so i started over on torment difficulty, i was doing good till i had to fight those damn sliths, i went everywhere to kill anything so i could level up, and still they killed me easy. so i had to go back to normal difficulty, i guess i will just play the game and after i end it, i will play it again on torment.

  3. I just finished de shareware line, considering i own avernum 4 and avernum 1 EFTP, I found the Avadon engine pretty nice, i see better graphics, and the game itself has changed a little bit, the mages can use a staff to fire stuff and it does not consume mp, i see that if you enter a store or special room its a different map for it. the resolution played can be chosen. players recover hp while moving

I can chose whom to company me, wich i find pretty nice, and my party could not be compatible between them, and they chat in certain parts of the story wich is cool.

I do like the way the abilitites are chosen for each class, depending on what you really like in a player.

I do find the shareware line too short, i feel that if they showed a bit more of the game it would be better, and people would be more eager to buy it

Anyway i buy the game tomorrow. I wanna see more!! :)

  4. Each character should basically keep raising its core offensive stat to the max. INT for casters, DEX for missile specialists, STR for fighters. You can put a couple of points into END if you keep getting killed, but with every fourth level-up you're going to get a free point in it anyway.

As for going multi-classed, that's purely a matter of preference. It's considered sub-optimal, but it certainly can be done. Keep in mind that you will pretty much have a total of 63 skill points for each character, unless you grind for levels.

So there is no point in raising dex for a warrior thats not using bows?

  5. I like to use pure stats, meaning my mage has only mage spells, and my priest only has priest spells.

My question is how much should my basic stats go, like for my warrior, should i get 10 on STR, DEX, and END, or should i get 17 on them.

About magic, should my priest have some mage spells, and my warriors some priest spells?, or how big should my the dex of my warrior be?, is it any good to get 20 dex?

  6. If you want to make your life simpler you might want to check out Randomizer's Strategy Central post. There is a section that lists all of the items you should save for quests. While it might feel a bit like cheating to look at the list, it can be quite irritating to have to remember all of the places you've been so you can run around picking up bottles of leftover wine....

    Where is it????

  7. after beating the game im giving my oppinion:

I think last boss and the shades were too easy and i miss the multiple options like the anama thing in A3. Also the are no hidden doors. I think it was small game compared to others avernum series.

Besides that i think its a great game. The job boards, and game interface are definitely good. And the story was pretty cool too.

  8. I killed all the shades, i even have a save before each shade kill so i can kill them over and over.

I did ended with 20k unspent gold and 25pts on mage and priest without use

I saved all the gold bars, steel bars, mandrake and all the herbs but the last boss was so ez that i didnt need them
