  1. He's at the north end of one of the swamps on the western shoreline. I can't get more specific than that, because I haven't played E2 in a few years. However, I do remember this much: Try to go in through the back way, or he'll be gone by the time you get to him. And when you finally meet him, tell him that that lady sent you, and when he asks you if you're there to kill him, respond with, "If necessary", otherwise he'll commit suicide.

Any way you can post your ideas wright under. I'm assuming you're responding to my statement about not knowing or caring about the length of a Shaper's lifespan; it's true, I don't. It seems to me that you've given this way more thought than I have. I, on the other hand, have long since given up trying to understand the logic of a game, and decided to accept it for what it truly is--a game. Twenty-odd years of PC and console gaming can do that. However, someone mentioned that in one ending for (I think) G2, it says, "you live for a very long time," which to me automatically implies several centuries. I can't confirm that with my copy of the game, since mine's not registered. Quote: Originally written by Kelandon: I'm having trouble even finding which topic this is in reply to. Anyone know? My best guess is that it's in reply to this topic . EDIT: Added quote by, and response to, Kelandon.
  3. As far as I can tell, there are only 2 shapers on Sucia Island: you and Goettsch. I've covered just about every corner of the island, so I'm fairly certain of this. And I neither know nor care how long a shaper's lifespan is.
  4. 1. There are a few places where you can augment (I forget at the moment), but it's just too expensive for my taste. If you do decide to augment, make sure the item gains something useful. 3. There's a also random item shop in Lorelei, and I think it's the cheapest. 4. I prefer the Lifesaver Amulet until my Luck skill is high. 5. I really don't use archery in E3, so I can't give you advice here. For me, all missile weapons are junk items, and get sold. 6. I use Nimble Gloves or Micah's Gloves for just about anyone. 7. That's what I do, especially since all my PCs are trained as both priests and mages. Mithral Chain Mail is pretty much my favorite armor. If I wear something encumbering, I lose not just some APs per turn in combat, but also the ability to cast mage spells.
  5. I rarely, if ever, use the Geneforge these days; I normally can get by just fine without it. Destroying the Geneforge is a given when I play, too. I prefer just to use canisters.
  6. After I added 2 points to INT, it fled and went rogue very rarely. I always buy the 2 INT for everything I create, and have never had a creation flee or go rogue.
  7. I prefer to level up a lot, especially before the Inner Crypt. I also like to have at least a couple of levels of "Create Glaahk" before heading into the Shaper Crypt, and the ability to make Ur-Glaahks before entering the Inner Crypt. And I don't play the GF series on torment; no real reason, just personal preference (that, and I tend to get eaten alive).

I prefer playing solo, but when I need creations, I always make sure I have the essence to control them. That way, they won't get themselves (or more often, me) into trouble. Quote: Originally written by Randomizer: The down side to zero intelligence creations is the loss of control. When you want to send a meatshield in to detonate a mine or go after a specific opponent then the AI won't do. Also if the opponents are too far away then the AI won't engage them. Which is why I either make controllable creatures or just play solo. It makes things much easier for me.
  9. Quote: Originally written by Arch-Mage Solberg: I remember when I first found Exile 1 and 2 on a Galaxy of Games CD. I did everything I possibly could in those demos. By the time I paid for the games, I was so high level the other half of the games went by quick. I originally found E3 and BoE on a CD called "Games for Windows 95," and I did the same same thing (I found BoE first). The only difference is that with E3, I never played past day 60, after stopping the Tower of Magi disaster.

Bringing back the money code would be nice too. Good one; maybe it could be called something like "teleportme" or "beammeupscotty" (I couldn't help it on that second one, I'm a bit of a Star Trek fan). And I didn't even know there was a money code (not that I've ever needed it).
  11. Quote: Originally written by Dikiyoba: There is a little bit about serviles being shaped from humans. Clois in the marshes of G1 says something to that effect. It's not proof of it, though. I too have yet to see proof either way. Quote: Originally written by Delicious Vlish: In G4 you find out that battle alphas and battle betas share the same stock as serviles. I'll take your word on it, since the Windows version isn't out yet. It wouldn't surprise me if Thahds were also shared the same base as well. Here's an interesting idea I had once: Serviles, Thahds, and Battle Alplas/Betas/Gammas are all humanoid-type creatures. Since they're all basically similar, they all needed a similar base creature(s). The most convenient creature would be another human. Assuming all this is true, and factoring what you learn in the various ruins on Sucia Island, here's one interesting conclusion: If the humanoid creations all have the same base, the early Shapers may have modified their enemies to make them into servants.
  12. There's no key required, just an object called a Crescent Stone. I found one on a monster in the Western Wastes.
  13. I do that a lot (though not in E3). It's amazing how well you get to know a dungeon once you've defeated it 50 times in a row.
  14. I don't use trainers, they tend to freeze up my computer. You don't really need a trainer to get living tools, especially once you raise your mechanics skill to a high level, and consequently need less of them. A combination of high mental magic skill and multiple trainings in the unlock spell has been known to work wonders on locks, too. With my playing style, living tools become kind of a junk item anyway, at least towards the endgame.

I just use some living tools to get there, since there's no negative consequences. If you join a group, you gain the right to get any training or information that group has to offer, and that group's merchants will sell you stuff cheaper. It also determines who your friends and enemies are, what side quests you're given, and what ending you get when you leave the island. Personally, I don't bother joining any group; it restricts my gameplay too much.
  16. To paraphrase one thing I said in the "future of Geneforge" thread, why not have a GF game like BoE or BoA? It might be fun to see what everyone would come up with. That way, you could make your own game without having to mess up the ones that are already out.

When the SEP goons come bashing down doors he'd rather have his name on the do not eliminate with extreme prejudice list. I've never encountered spam, junk mail, etc. by giving any address (home or email) to Spiderweb. There shouldn't be any problem.

Now I am able to make 6 attacks, cast 6 spells, etc. Lucky you. Randomizer's right, it's probably a bug. I've also seen the same thing with money in BoE, as well as the entire Exile trilogy (especially E3).
  19. How many PC's do you play with? 6. How many scenarios have you played? about 20 or 30. Absolute favorite BoE scenario? Requelle's Nightmare, before it was changed to R rating. When did you get the registered version of BoE for the first time? 1998 or 1999, I think. What is the first third-party scenario you played? I have no idea, it's been too long. Besides, with my memory, I can't even remember what I ate for breakfast this morning--or if I even ate breakfast. Favorite all-around scenario designer? don't know Out of your own scenarios, which do you feel is your best? my own personal HLPM, which I never released, and don't intend to. It's also the only one I made and didn't scrap. What is your favorite scenario icon? don't have one. If you could make one BoE scenario into a movie, which scenario would it be? the Spheres trilogy. What is your favorite spell? It's a combination: Protection, followed by Shockwave. What is your favorite item of all time? (It doesn't matter how many scenarios have the item in it. Can be one, can be all.) the items I created in my own personal HLPM. Have you ever named a place or character in a scenario after someone you know in real life? no What do you think is the absolute most overrated BoE scenario of all time? Chicken Plague What do you think is the absolute most underrated BoE scenario of all time? Islands of the Wheel If you could fix one bug in BoE or the scenario editor, what would it be? delete town If you could add one new feature to BoE or the scenario editor, what would it be? make Magic Map work outdoors What is your least favorite scenario out of those rated 7.0 or higher on CSR? I don't think I've ever been on CSR. Which scenario do you think is the worst ever? There's lots of horribles, but only one can be the absolute worst. the ones I tried making Write down the release dates of all of your scenarios. If you can't remember all of them, do the ones that you can. never released any (either never finished, or were absolutely horrible) What is your favorite TM scenario? I don't keep track of who made what. What is your favorite Creator scenario? I don't keep track of who made what. What is your favorite scenario in the Spheres trilogy? #3 What is your favorite scenario in the Adventurer's Club trilogy? never played it What do you think is the absolute coolest innovation in a BoE scenario yet? Tatterdemalion's "3 scenarios in 1" approach What is your favorite BoE fansite? What do you think would happen if Alcritas returned to the Lyceum as an active member once more? What scenario do you think should have won the first design contest? Name one random scenario that has not been mentioned by anyone in this thread (first that comes in your head.) Rentar's Revenge (a huge scenario that I had planned on making, set 500 years after E3; I scrapped it because it began spiralling out of control in size--2MB and still growing!) If TM returned, and he and Kel continued to argue, do you think that should continue, or do you think they just have to duke it out? How should I know?

Is this important, or just Jeff poking some fun? Also, there's another fastidious feline who's hungry. Can you feed him, or not? (This is in the safehouse in Motrax's tunnels, which can only be reached via Orb of Thralni.) First, I think it's meant as a joke. Second, don't talk to cats (except maybe Cheeseball). Third, I haven't been to that safehouse since the last time I played E2, and I don't think I've ever been there in A2. Edit: Correction: I don't talk to cats.
  21. Do what I did: Buy the game! I bought it with the others in the trilogy on CD; it's a little cheaper per game that way.
  22. 1)I don't have a favorite; they're all good. 2)Whatever one-handed weapon kills my enemies the fastest. 3)I prefer not to use missiles. 4)It's kind of a toss-up between Divine Warrior and Arcane Shield. 5)Not so much one spell removed, but the way it works. Level 3 Haste used to target all PCs and nearby friendly characters; now it only targets one person. 6)The strongest one-handed one I can find. 7)Again, the strongest one-handed one I can find. 8)I don't use missiles. 9)See #8. 10)Anything that dumbfounds or drains spell points--or worse, does both. 11)X. Need I say more? 12)(A3/E3 endgame spoiler) Erika getting killed. I'd like to have seen her get some real revenge. 13)I'd have to go with X. He's supposed to be a bit wacky, like I am. 14)I've only encountered the one so far in Formello. I don't have the registered version yet. 15)It's a toss-up between Garzahd and Emperor Hawthorne, but they're dead already. 16)Motrax. Too bad he dies after E2/A2. 17)Anything with an encumbrance of zero, unless I have the "Natural Mage" character trait. 18)A general in the army. 19)Meet them on the field of battle, blow them to bits, and take their stuff. 20)Pure, unadulterated boredom. 21)It's a tie between Erika and X; they're both powerful spellcasting nutjobs (though that last bit is shown more with X). 22)Dead ones. 23)Yes, in A3 on the surface.) 24)Just about every bureaucrat in the game. 25)Fort Emergence. Good as a base of operations. 26)Both Mage spells and Priest spells (as is usual with me), plus really high strength, dexterity, intelligence, and endurance. 27)Xian coin. The reason should be obvious. 28)Valorim. 29)Luck, hands down. Saved my life on countless occasions. 30)Sharpshooter, but then again, I don't use bows. 31)Food teleported from the surface. 32)Some kind of "clairvoyance"-type skill. It helps to know what's coming. 33)Orb of Thralni. Enough said. 34)Yes, because it adds a little to my armor rating. 35)Avernum would've been annexed into the Empire, and there'd be endless war with the Vahnatai.

There are plenty of places out there. Dikiyoba happens to use TinyPic.com . Thanks for the tip. Here's the screenshot: And would you believe that's only about a third of what I gathered? The rest went towards bankrupting every shopkeeper in the game, leaving me with about 10,000 gold. Edit: The picture appears to not have posted right, so here\'s a link to the picture. Edit #2: There are even several items I stole in this picture! In the realm of RPG gaming (and only there), I'm not above theft to get some good items.
  25. I like fyoras because they're easy to fillet when I no longer need them. And the best part is that because of their fire-breathing ability, they're already cooked! (Now that I think about it, I could go for a drayk steak right about now ...)
