  1. I'm a bit confused. Tartam is not giving me the Neray quest. Just tried all the dialog options again. From other threads it looks like I need the quest as the first step and it should have been available a long time ago. is there any trick to getting the quest or prerequisite? current quest list: ogre raiders, dire wolf pack, blue ore, ahmed's libram, the assassin spiridon, the jhereth deeps
  2. showing up on the map when i haven't done that seems like a bug to me ;p i'll go talk to him.
  3. update: beat the beast. started ogres. 500 xp to 13. i killed some bats in the mines by luring them to the ladder up. then kill one, go up, heal, shadow charm, go down, kill one, go up, repeat... weird that you can use ladder all you want during combat. need to check about leaving zones to exit combat too. anyway posting cause I just ran into a bug (I think). it says Trapdoor on my map, just below the entrance to the fancy new fortress thing built in the jhereth deeps (haven't gone in yet, don't know what to call it). but there isn't a trapdoor. i stand right where it says on the map and it's just a little area with a campfire and some junk. hope it's unimportant, not a missing stairway down or something. i could screenshot if it's not a known bug. I also had an ogre patrol walk right past me without starting a fight for some reason. I saw them stopped at the patrol end, all standing in a clump. walked within a few squares and none attacked. They found and attacked me a little later though. speaking of minor issues, some of the default hotkeys don't make a lot of sense. why shift+/ for character screen instead of c? why none for quests? why use f keys instead of number keys? f-keys is bad because when i try to play in window mode some do stuff like open expose. and a lot of people can't even press f-keys without holding function, they do brightness/sound/etc... and i would like movement keys and something to display names of all enemies onscreen at once so i don't have to mouseover them. the movement could also be faster. and a way to speed up enemy turns and long walks (just animate it faster). and a pony.
  4. update: got to the beast. got level 11 working on the stuff under zethron's lair. but a lot of that stuff is rather hard and uses a lot of consumables. going to try the last few things in the woods and then try to fight the beast (i saw his splitting but didn't get that much understanding of how hard it is). i like the skill system in this game. i think it's well made. i only just realized i have to level daze to get focus mastery stats are now 7 str, 13dex, 10 int, 10 end (1 str, 2 dex, 1 int, 1 end is from gear). getting some more endurance next. skills are: 4 unlock, 8 firebolt, 1 lightning wind, 1 ice storm, 1 ward mastery, 1 shadow charm, 2 daze, 2 focus mastery. and 1 specialization for middle column. daze/focus planned to get for the next 6 levels. i think i regret the lightning wind and ice storm. not finding them that useful now. and they aren't even good for killing salamanders without more int and points in them. if i was doing it again i think i'd either put those points in ward mastery or daze/focus, not sure which. i'm pretty sure shadow charm duration is based on level (and points in it), not int. +2 int does not add 1 turn (tested). it's been going up regularly and it can't be 1 per 3 int b/c it's up to 7 turns (5 above starting) so that'd take 15 int increase when i only have around 6. what do extra points in arcane blessing add? duration? it looks not that great for singleton i think, better to get passives. haste does sound a bit tempting but how is the duration on it? how is the duration and enemy resist chance for slow?
  5. Yeah I did the rats already. Pretty sure I was able to lure only 2 at a time after practicing a bit. Like with the bats, it's tricky to get good lures but possible to split them up. You can even lure a big group, kite, pick off a weak one, then run all the way to the ladder up. Maybe I should have done snapfang that way. The not-dead ones stay near the ladder if you go straight back down, but something resets them to their startingplaces (maybe using pillar to get vitality back, or just time).
  6. Finally won. Around 12 tries. I got lucky and lived through a corruption then resisted the next one. I was using plenty of consumables: two rat summons, haste, battle potion, blessing crystal, and heals. This is the only place to go that I know of. I must have missed something. Edit: dead end with treasure past the gate. huh. must be another way into the fortress or something. Edit: inventory full. is it safe to leave stuff in my room in avadon? Edit: Oh i forgot to revisit the clanless people after going to the fortress. got a new zone now.
  7. Snapfang keeps killing me with corruption. It does damage when he casts it, then again at the start of my turn. So it double hits before I can do anything. Damage from 2 hits is more than my max hp. Anything I can do about this besides hope he doesn't cast it? Or have more endurance which it's too late to change.
  8. Update: got level 8 and finished wretch fort. Yevner can be a pain to keep alive and when he kills stuff you don't get xp... ugh. Also I didn't really mean to bring him along but i just kept going a bit before realizing i'd be stuck with him a long time, and didn't want to lose progress. then the area kept going even longer than i thought before i could ditch him. with yevner, 2 wand of calling charges (wolf pit and onghror), the flame circle scroll (onghror), a group heal scroll to save yevnor, 45 food, some heal pots and 2 blessing crystal, some fire wand charges (mostly to get 2 attacks in a row to last hit so yevnor doesn't steal xp), and some lightning scrolls ... and that seal healing scarab which is awesome ... it wasn't all that hard. used 25 out of 31 vitality. there was that alchemy room near the start. used about 29 total. i won the onghror fight on my first try. was kind of wasteful of items that i could have saved if i knew what to expect. but it's alright. so far it feels like the game would be rather easy with even 2 characters on torment. stuff dies fast and even a sorceress in general has good survivability. and in my understanding all the party members get full xp, so you'd have just as much levels. hoping it gets harder (though kind of my fault for getting yevnor).
  9. 102 xp short of level 7 now. I want to level before going into the wretch area with the falling rocks. Can't find anything else to kill besides the salamanders which are too strong for me to kill one with my bow (well, I haven't yet tried using this Wand of Calling to fight them). Any places/xp I probably missed someone could point me to? Current quest list: aiding zhethron, find quennel, blue ore, ahmed's libram, the wayfarer, lost soldiers, the wretch lair. Going to go look for quennel next I guess. Just got that quest. Maybe he spawned now that I have it. Also how do I get the self heal scarab? I'm at brasula's room like the item list said. Don't see it. Good tip about the unlimited bread, thanks. Edit: 12 xp short. Hadn't opened valna's door and codex before. Edit: leveled from quennel quest. just need to find that scarab now! Edit: Oh it's from a quest. Got it. Off to the wretches!
  10. Update: Just got level 6. The first dungeon was definitely the hardest part so far. I've run out of food and bandages. They get used up fast. But I still have 10 healing potions so it's ok. I also used up 2 fire wands but saved most of my other stuff. Current unfinished stuff to do next: lizards at zethron, leaping lizards at south of wretch area, and the underground passage into the wretch fort. Cleared the rest unless I missed something. Got over 2k gold now and almost out of vitality. Going to go buy a scarab at Avadon soon. Anything else I should buy early? So far I just bought Mage's Staff, food, and all lockpicks. I have 3 blessed and 1 emerald runestone. How common are these? Should I use them now or wait for better gear to avoid wasting them? Eteched leather cape and maybe soft leather cloak look like I might keep them a while. Weapons I assume I'll get new ones fairly soon but I don't know.
  11. Glad to hear it's possible. Any advice on where to spend level up points? How much dex do I need how fast? Any skills I definitely shouldn't spend on?
  12. Thanks. After the first dungeon do you get the chance to level up a while before being forced to make progress in the game? Or is it more linear? Has anyone had much luck with a sorceress solo? I beat quiria with a lucky crit causing her to start running away instead of attacking. But it cost 3 food 2 bandages and the big heal pot... Maybe I'm doomed for the next fight now.
  13. Hi, Just got Avadon today and started playing a sorceress on torment. I have experience with previous spidweb games (Exile 1-3 are my favorite). Beat the wretches by luring one at a time. Beat Hansi with the lightning scroll (saved first if I need to go back). I haven't used any other consumables yet (I realize you can use a healing item and still attack). Getting stuck on Quiria now. She has a lot of hp and I don't do much damage. I managed to lure her away from the other monsters and have a few turns fighting her alone, but she summoned a giant spider right away (bad luck) plus they started catching up. Going to keep trying. I think it should be possible if I get lucky with no spider summon. Anyone have advice for Quiria? And is it going to get better or worse on the second or third dungeon? Is torment singleton possible with a sorceress? Any class? Would appreciate a heads up about what I'm in for. Also shadow charm seems pretty useless. Am I missing something? A shield that only lasts two turns isn't worth giving up my attack when soloing. And I haven't had much luck with anyone stopping attacking me. Also is there any good way to see what your range is? Do I just have to count squares? Appreciate any tips. Thanks.
  14. ok. the official hint book says on page 11 to go back to fort emergence for a reward...
  15. this is my first time playing e3 so no spoilers please. i beat the slimes and then the trogs (hadn't even found roaches yet). i didn't get any reward in fort emergence for the trogs mission (killing the khazi guy. i got the dispel barrier reward). no dialog either. nothing. (i may have gotten the text about first meeting trogs on a previous trip to town. i forget.) is it because i did things out of order? is it a bug?
  16. i mostly use names for me (curi, Elliot) or names of my D&D characters (Tirin, Caeli, Isyn). i named my e2 pacifist Alice. useless character, non-heroic name :-)
  17. i liked magic waveblades. any magic 1 handed edged weapon or a steel waveblade is ok (feel free to enchant it). dual-wielding rocks. the staff of magi is good too.
  18. hey speaking of advantages, is there info anywhere on their exact effect? how much difference does toughness or magically apt make? *curious*
  19. How good is recuperation? I am too lazy to test it much... I just beat E2 and I'm planning to make a 2 character human party for E3 with lots of advantages. not sure if recuperation is useful though. also someone mentioned highly alert preventing you from being slowed or something like that? is that true?
