  1. I believe you can use the Orb of Thralni to reach Kneece from Bigail. If you want to get the Orb legitimately and you haven't already, you'll have a long wait (day 100-some). If you can't stand it, add the Orb with the character editor. It's one of the easily available artifacts. —Alorael, who believes reset towns should restore Olga to her happy living state. It also restores everything and everyone else. Use with care.
  2. I mentioned concentration as well, Willow. Yes, it helps that graphics aren't used repeatedly, but towns aren't either. There are very few different areas to enter, so almost all of them are unique. —Alorael, who loathed the interchangeable A3 towns with generic people. If they weren't worth the effort to make fully, they shouldn't have been made at all.
  3. I think the wilderness is designed a bit better in Nethergate than in A3, and I definitely prefer the "alert" sound that comes with each message. —Alorael, who agrees that the details help. The size also seems to make Jeff concentrate more on making what he does have count, so the game is more concentrated in a way.
  4. Try using the editor to reset all hosile towns. This brings all monsters, friendly and hostile, back to life. Unfortunately, I think your problem has to do with stuff done flags, which nobody has figured out, but it's worth a try. —Alorael, who would instead advise using the character editor to add the spells you would get as a reward.
  5. On a Mac, you need the preference file, located in the Preferences folder in you System Folder. On a PC, you need a file with a different name, possibly <game you're playing>.dat in the data folder. This will remove registration, so you'll have to email Spiderweb and ask for a new password. —Alorael, who believes re-registration requires your name and the address you ordered from. If more information is required, Jeff will ask for it.
  6. But it's so powerful that being able to cast it in combat would be unbalancing. Instead, you have to plan ahead and use it before battle. —Alorael, who would say the real bug is the fact that Spirit Lance can't be cast in combat mode in version 1.0. It can't be cast out of combat either, though, since it's an attack spell.
  7. You can get a goblin in the Lair of Reptrakos and a woman in Annwn, and another woman in Galag-Trav as Celts. —Alorael, who hasn't played enough as Romans to know what their sixth party member options are.
  8. You can email Jeff at spidweb@spiderwebsoftware.com or call the number provided somewhere on the main Spiderweb site. You need to provide the address an possibly the name you first ordered from, too. —Alorael, who will now send this off to Tech Support. Bye!
  9. 1. Jeff is unlikely to program a new window. Besides, being able to see farther would make the game slighly easier. 2. If scenario designers want to have quicker means of transportation, they can add that themselves. It's not difficult. 3. Two weapons will not be included. 4. Maces can be included, but they will still have the graphics of either swords or polearms and be treated accordingly. 5. There won't be nether spells, although some designers may make special 'spells' that may work even better in BoA than they did in BoE. There will be two new spells, though. 6. Designers can make any equipment they wish. If you don't find what you want, you can make your own scenario just to give your party that item. And since the sneaky skills don't really require much dancing around, just manual dexterity, encumberance shouldn't matter much. —Alorael, who doesn't think a wish list will do much good now. First, Jeff is probably significantly into the programming now. Second, he doesn't like our suggestions anyway.
  10. First, a minor request. Spaces after punctuation in your posts would make them a bit easier to read, XYZ. Second, important news. Drakey cannot leave, because Drakey = everyone, even though everyone != Drakey. —Alorael, who has now completely and irrevocably ended any point this topic may once have had. He'd apologize if he actually felt very sorry.
  11. If you're using Windows NT, you need a special version of DirectX for Spiderweb games to work. Otherwise, I can't help you. Quote: Originally posted by ef: The only DirectX-version that is compatible with WinNT 4.0 is DirectX 3.0a If you want to use that you'll also have to download the Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6. The DirectX does not function properly without the Service Pack. —Alorael, who otherwise can't help with Windows. More specific information, like more system information and what version of Windows, would also help.
  12. Mac or PC? —Alorael, who would advise sticking with the same graphics for now. At least get to playing while working on your problem.
  13. Actually, I very much doubt anyone can help you. Nobody knows how to use the Stuff Done Flags. —Alorael, who advises leaving them alone. If there's a particular reason you want to use them, there may be a workaround. Otherwise, leave them alone.
  14. I don't speak French, but I'd guess it means "Don't violate the beautiful French language any more if you [want?] to live." —Alorael, who isn't sure about the wanting. Regardless of French, this discourse does not belong in Tech Support. Posting simple agreements usually isn't helpful either.
  15. Yes, all Dells are PC's. If it worked at all, he downloaded the right version. As a Mac user, I can't help much. Make sure you downloaded the special version of DirectX, not just the newest version. —Alorael, who would also download E3 again just for good measure. It's always possible that the download was corrupted.
  16. The bug was from a corruption of the profile of account 2475. Linda replaced the account with a placeholder to fix the problem. Unfortunately, that means that the account is gone, so wizard6 has to start again. —Alorael, who hopes UBB is working on the problem. It's probably not just on Spiderweb, and it's a huge nuisance and irritation to those who are deleted.
  17. I couldn't live near other skribbane users for their own good. I'd be forced to kill them. As for my sniping exploits, how many pedestrians do you think there are in forests? And how many in major urban centers? Yes, Lorelei sounds very nice. —Alorael, who is sure he could work out a deal with the guards. Maybe something along the lines of "I am allowed to import skribbane, and in return I don't kill you." Ah, yes, that sounds very feasible.
  18. I like Lorelei and Krizsan. Both are very nice cities, Lorelei has a nice central location, and Krizsan is right next to the entrance to Avernum. —Alorael, who was very tempted to choose Gebra. He's sure he and most other Spiderwebbers would fit right in!
  19. First of all, Geocities doesn't allow remote posting of images. You'll have to post a link, and that one doesn't work. Second, don't put spaces between the and whatever URL follows. —Alorael, who dislikes Geocities anyway. They are the hosting equivalent of hotmail. There are better alternatives, but nobody uses them.
  20. Zephyr uses a PC, I believe. I'd say the problem probably is either from a lack of a program that can unzip or an incorrect browser setting. Check to see if you have WinZip or another unstuffing program. If you don't, check your browser's settings, especially for downloads. —Alorael, who has also had downloading problems for some files. On a Mac, holding down the option key sometimes helps. There's probably a similar command for PC's.
  21. Yes. To complete that chapter you need to have the full version of Nethergate. —Alorael, who recommends getting it. Although it's Spiderweb's shortest RPG, it's also one of their most original.
  22. I have a Mac, and the link works for me as well. Given the message, it's possible that you have somehow configured your own internet settings to prevent access, although that does seem unlikely. —Alorael, who would look for other sites to download from. Try http://www.shareware.com for one. If you can't find anything that will let you download, it's almost certainly a problem on your end.
  23. Who is Shy Guy? If you mean Jeff, then you're confused. Jeff uses the Spidweb account here. —Alorael, who supposes there are other Jeffs on Spiderweb, but the Jeff who immediately comes to mind is Jeff Vogel, who is not Shy Guy.
  24. The original Spiderweb boards were Ikonboards. They looked a bit different, but the idea was the same. In late September or early October of 2001 the boards were moved to the UBB (here) because of security loopholes and bugs in the Ikonboard. —Alorael, who believes someone found an archived version of the old Ikonboard. But besides that, it's gone. There's no way to use it anymore, and the archive isn't really worth seeing.
  25. I don't think Jeffs watches the boards enough to see that, and he might be perversely disposed to go against suggestions just to be original. I've known other people who do that. —Alorael, who doesn't think that would work as a sequel anyway. A Nethergate 2 as a prequel might work, but the end of Nethergate does preclude any further faerie-involving adventures.
