  1. I did the Tyro quest then Dinitia quest but did not receive the Shaila quest from Crowley. There was only a choice asking where to find Shaila. Is Crowley the guy in Citadel Gates? If so, I still didn't see the quest about Shaila. Please help.
  2. I can't seem to persuade Shaila to leave. I went to her area with leadership 6. I fought her creatures then went to her. I had to fight her then was given two choices: I told her I might spared her, but she still lunged at me so I had to kill her. Don't understand this at all. What did I do wrong?
  3. I restarted the game with mech 6 and leadership 5. It works very well with strength 3. I didn't even need the artilla! As for the dropped items, I just kept reenter the area until I got what I wanted ie fyora tunic or skin. How much leadership do I need with Shaila? And how many mechanic points do I need with the mine area?

  5. Sorry, I checked and my character is an infiltrator. Right now, she is pretty weak though. Any advice on how to improve her? Or maybe someone can give me the link to this topic discussion? Also, what should I do with Shaila? Do I need leadership to deal with her or do I have to fight her only? She looks tough.
  6. I am sure this has been discussed before but just some quick questions to the experts out there. I like Geneforge a lot but hardly ever play the game through because I get bored when the game gets too hard. I began as a magic-strong character (lifecrafter?) and pro-rebel and on an easy level. Are there any suggestions to make it powerful? On the first three areas, I upgraded mech, leadership, and battle magic. However, I seemed to run into lack of strength (ie. encumbered). I wanted to increase intelligent but not sure which is really needed between spellcraft, intel, or strength. (I am still in demo mode.) I got an artilla and it helped when encountered with a group of enemies. Daze is very useful. Also, the whole pro-rebel and pro-shaper really got me. I read some of the discussed topics here and now am not sure which way I should turn. Is the game intended for either extreme way or does it really allow double crossing? It might seem great to get the most bonus but somehow it just doesn't feel right. Now about the questions. which class is the easiest to play as? (at an easy or at a normal level) I prefer magic to shaping. I like to be a loner, I guess, although in some cases, an army certainly helps. In other Geneforges, I usuall play as an agent. I have done about 5-6 areas so far and now am not sure if my character (Adriadne) is a good choice. Need any suggestions for this newbie since I really have no clue what to do even though I have played some other geneforge before. Thanks
  7. I was up to the fifth stone test when I was at the end of Dhonal Island at about lev. 19-21. Once I get some stones on the bracelet, I created a few basic creatures as diversion. Would appreciate if anyone could tell me how to beat the last battle though. I don't think my searer did them any harm.
  8. I am an agent and this is how I did it. I created basic fyoras and placed them strategically along the hall toward the pools. Then get into the battle mode and have the fyora inside the room step onto the rune. After that, using many of those fyoras to lure one of them out of the room toward the pool. I had Greta and Alwan and it worked well even at my not-so-high level. The trick is to get only one out of the room at the time and place fyoras at the right position so that the golem would continue hunting them down the hall (meaning ridding of them one by one until it reachs me which is fine for me since they are made as mere baits.) Wait till you get the magical golems - that is hard! I still can't beat them.
  9. How do I change the color of the character during the game, without too much pc work?
  10. How do you use it? Do you need to save the original game files? Please be more detail.
  11. I have begun a new game and at the bridge where I talked to the thads using leadership. When I finished the conversation, somehow the conversation restarted and I naturally got another set of exp. (288! wow!) Has anyone encountered this bug? Please share your experience.
  12. I wonder what would happen if a pro-shaper turn rebel in the last island? Would Alwan turn against you then or would he just leave you?
  13. In what circumstance does one get to be there? I would guess it's for pro-rebels, but can you just drop in for (looting) tea with the warden?
  14. I found the key last night, thanks anyway though. I guess I should have gone to the west first then to get some better gears. I have low dexsity so it was not fun to go through this area.
  15. Is the east in the lower left corner?
  16. agent lev. 22 with about 10 spellcraft, battlespell. I have up to essence orbs though I still haven't used it yet. So far, the acid spray is doing the job. I have greta and alwan both updated. I am at Dohnal Island at present.
  17. Yes, it is. I think the office where I want to go (in the west) is the entry to Inner Plant area. However, I don't know where the key is. Can someone help me on that?
  18. How do I get into the office? Is it the one that has the sign 'kept out'? Please help!
  19. did you say you are ready? btw, with some leadership you can get some xp by talking with the mind about the tests. I would advice you go battle route first then try the other room - that way you can get max xp and the battles are not that hard anyway. After you are done, ask the mind for the tougher tests - and they are pretty tough if you are not at lev 16 up imo.
  20. Is there a good strategy for beating the four golems? I am at lev. 21 with the help of alwan and greta, the first four were not too bad. For the golems, I lure them out one by one with the short-lived fyora and the fourth test was rather easy with having alwan engage with the beast while I and Greta finished up the energy source. Steelskin helped a great deal. What kind of spell is best to fight the golem? I use acid spray and firebolt when out of energy.
  21. There seems to be a lack of low level scenarios (lev 1-5) that spider here calls beginner, in my opinion. It would be nice if someone can write more of them. Also, I dislike making the party since I am so indecision so hopefully the scenarios would include prefab party. with different engine from boe, boa scenarios here really look neat. Thanks for all terrific jobs.
  22. I found the suspicious serviles but then what shall I do? I have one room that haven't survey yet for I decided to give paper to the shaper side.
  23. I don't see the improvement of my hit either. Maybe it might be useful with higher level monsters. Anyway, I am now wearing clover boots and I still have to reload often to get some artila eyes for my blessed necklace. (it sells at good price.)
  24. I still couldn't find the breastplate. Could it be that I need more points of luck?
