Fledgling Fyora Bill Ramey
Does it pay to buff your party with War Blessing and Protection before going into combat? The reason I ask is that it sometimes seems that the buffs are cancelled upon going into combat, so my priest has to buff the party again. Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
They make about a 20% difference to the damage you give and receive, so it's very worthwhile to cast them, and it's best to do it before combat if you can. Just make sure you don't walk around for too long after casting it, because at low levels buffs wear off fast.
Unflappable Drayk Zummi
Cast Haste too while you're at it..it makes a difference..
Garrulous Glaahk Lucheiah
Absolutely, if I know I've got combat coming up I do this, and it makes quite a difference. Admittedly, mass bless/haste scrolls are SO good for this
Chittering Clawbug Mav
War blessing and protection are must-use spells. As for duration issues, it's tedious, but if you suspect a fight's around the corner, go into fight mode while it's still safe and do your 20 or so buffs before scouting for enemies. One square in walking mode is a round in combat mode.
