Garrulous Glaahk Bomber
Is it possible to travel all of avernum?
Magnificent Ornk Ephesos
In A2, it's impossible to get to Empire-controlled lands, except for a few major missions, which only let you access a very small part of it. If you want to travel through all of Avernum, then Avernum 1 is your best bet. EDIT: Typo. "aprt" isn't a word...
Garrulous Glaahk Bomber
Well then how can you go and see knoth and free him???
Magnificent Ornk Ephesos
Uh... you can't free him. He frees himself between A2 and A3.
Garrulous Glaahk Bomber
so he kills hundreds of empire troops by himself!!! Damn he must be tough.
Magnificent Ornk Ephesos
Well, he is a dragon, and Empire soldiers are not renowned for cunning... I mean, most of them can't seem to open doors without an adventurer's help.
Garrulous Glaahk :Slash:
Aaah, I remember trying to fight my way through the empire barricades. The fight gradually get tougher, and soon they gave me loads of xp. Imagine my surprise when I got the "You were overrun by the whole empire army bla bla" message. Hell, my party at the end of A2 could probably take on their whole empire and come out mostly in one piece, if you threw them a dozen invulnerbility potions or so. Magnificent Ornk Dikiyoba
That's not very realistic, even if it is true. Dikiyoba wishes Dikiyoba could sneak into Bargha (sp?) and cause all sorts of havoc, regardless of the danger.
Magnificent Ornk Ephesos
Yes, after playing A1, I finally realized how annoying it was to not be able to get into the Abyss. A few missions inside Empire-controlled Bargha and Spire would've done wonders for the game. Heck, you could've ended up retaking the Spire Fort or Fort Saffron (whose inclusion in A4 puzzled me until I remembered A1).

I remember coming back just before I kicked Garzahds ass and taking on the biggest attack party they had, slaughtering it in three rounds. My two wizards deepfried them... Magnificent Ornk Dikiyoba
What's the name of the Empire-controlled city you can get into? Since there's no way to kill the Empire soldiers without the Abyss refugees going hostile and the money from turning in sacks of meal is good, I just steal everything I can. Help the war effort however possible and all that. Dikiyoba.
Magnificent Ornk Ephesos
'Twas called Harston, and it was trashed by giants before A4. There was something unpleasant living there, I believe... and it was right next to the giants.
Magnificent Ornk Dikiyoba
Didn't last very long, did it? It sounded like it was built after A1. So we see it up and running in...one game? Not an impressive town. Dikiyoba.

Speaking of mainstream video games and Spiderweb, if Jeff Vogel could write and design an Elder Scrolls engine Exile/Avernum game I would be in freaking heaven! That's my biggest video game fantasy; The Elder Scrolls immersion with Jeff Vogels awesome storytelling.
