Ineffable Wingbolt Mosquito---Slayer
The game says that you can't cast mage spells while wearing too much armor, however I just noticed that my archer-mage can cast mage spells when he is wearing some armor along with a cave wood longbow(weight- 4 lbs., doesn't provide any armor) but can't cast them with EXACTLY THE SAME ARMOR if I am using a lemon wood bow(weight-2.5 lbs., doesn't provide any armor either) , Is that a bug or is there some reason for it? josiekj60, joannaea3 and mariocq60
Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
The limit for casting spells is based on the total hit penalty of all your armour. Longbows give a +5% bonus to hit, so they reduce your total penalty. It's better described as an oddity of the game engine than a bug. Rotghroth Rhapsody The Reverend
I believe that cutoff for too much armor to cast mage spells is determined by the total to-hit penalty of the armor. It also appears that weapons/items with a to-hit bonus (such as longbows with their +5 to-hit) can counteract this, which would explain what you're seeing. EDIT: I was too slow ...
