problem with blades of avernum

Hello I am having problems when starting scenarios on blades of avernum. During the starting scenes which includes the scenario text and pictures before you are placed in the game the program stops responding. For scenarios that only have one or two screens I am able to quickly click past them and start the scneario before it stops responding but on ones that have three or more I can't cycle through them fast enough. If anyone can help me stop the program from not responding I would greatly appreciate it.

i: Blades of avernum registered version

ii: Windows

iii: 32 bit Vista with intel core2 duo processor 2.13Ghz 3325 MB ram Geforce 9600 GT

No, if it happens on multiple scenario,s I doubt they are all damaged, but rather something with the game.

Have you gone to the Task Manager and killed anything spare? Maybe something is interfering with BoA. Otherwise, I'd back up your settings file and reinstall it. Maybe something got screwed up.

I think that it may be something related to windows vista user account control settings. The feature has interfered with some other retro style games I have played such as mordor. I did find a workaround for it that does work as long as I do not click the mouse during the opening scenes or during any scenes where there is scripted text above characters heads (cut scenes not free roaming in town) it wont freeze instead I use the enter button and all is well. As turning the vista user account control on and off is a hastle and requires restarting the computer each time I'll stick to refraining from clicking the mouse. Its not a complete fix but its another workaround for vista that works well enough for what I need it to do and hopefully can help anyone else who has the same problem. Thank you for the help regardless.

This happens to me too on my netbook. The first time I try to start up a scenario, the screen turns white and the program shuts down. When I restart BoA and try again spamming spacebar, it works fine. And to make it weirder, I can't duplicate it on my desktop, so I always presumed it was a computer issue rather than a software one.
