Easygoing Eyebeast Jerakeen
Ward of Steel raises armor %; Ward of Elements raises fire, cold and energy resistances; but Ward of Thoughts has no effect on mental resistance. I haven't noticed any particular in-game benefits, either. Am I wrong?
Easygoing Eyebeast *i
You could very well be correct since I noticed this with v1.0 but did not bother to update. What version are you using?
Easygoing Eyebeast Jerakeen
v1.0.
Easygoing Eyebeast *i
I'd e-mail Jeff then.
Easygoing Eyebeast Jerakeen
Done.
Hatchling Cockatrice Mea Tulpa
Ward of Thoughts might also work differently. I suspect this is the case because in previous games, neither Prismatic Shield nor the mental resistance spell actually raised displayed resistances. So Ward of Elements is actually a new spell, but Ward of Thoughts is probably just the old spell with a new name.
Easygoing Eyebeast Jerakeen
Maybe, but it seems like an odd oversight that two display and one doesn't.
Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
I'm pretty sure Ward of Thoughts does have an actual effect in-game. If the description in the manual is to be taken at its word, it gives you a flat 50% chance to ignore any mental effects, before any other resistances are taken into account. This seems reasonably consistent with what I've observed.
Hatchling Cockatrice Mea Tulpa
The displaying thing isn't an oversight, it's a reflection of the fact that they are totally different effects. The elements ward is bound by the 90% caps, the thought ward has nothing to do with them.
Easygoing Eyebeast Jerakeen
I see. Thank you.
