As you say, it's just a few different dialogues. The dungeons tend to be the same, the path through the game before the very end tends to be the same, and it really amounts to just a bit of responsiveness to choices. You don't need to play through more than once to appreciate it; it's fun just to see that your actions result in endings appropriate to your choices in the game. —Alorael, who really doesn't think you can complain about the endings before you've played the games. They aren't what you seem to think they are, and the later games have dungeons and monsters that are just as much fun as the earlier games, if not more so.
