Tenderfoot Thahd Jon*
So far this is the situation: I've done EVERY (e.g. Nociduas, drakes, Demonslayer, even the Shaynee's fetch-o-rama) optional quest that u can do before Rentar's fort (character's average out at level 30 or so), have cleared out most sections leading up to the fort and beneath (only those with pointless pylons left alive) and CANNOT open any of the doors as they are WAY above my thief's level 26 tool use skill (most are 30, two are 40). Are these doors as I suspect the entrances to the keep proper?? HELP!
Magnificent Ornk Ephesos
Hm... I assume that you mean the fortress west of Fort Remote. If not, ignore this. That fortress is interesting, in that there are a lot of doors you just can't open until you defeat Rentar and grab a key. I get the impression that you missed the gate in the far southeast corner of the fort, because there's a usable door near that gate, and that's how you get in. Do you have the vahnatai escort that Ghall-Ihrno mentioned? They should've given you some pointers.
Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
By the way, if you decide to play through the game again, next time you should make your thief a mage as well. The Unlock Doors spell effectively boosts your Tool Use skill when trying to open a door or cabinet, making it a lot easier to open those tough locks and meaning that you only ever need to put 15 points or so into Tool Use. Tenderfoot Thahd Jon*
Umm..I'm assumin by the gate in the far southeast corner (west of Fort Remote) u mean the gate underground to which there are two stairs to? I originally assumed that was the way in..but as it ALSO requires 30 tool use, no luck. Any other suggestions?
Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
Ah, so you've already managed to get under the fort itself? Look around in the underground area for a lever. It's a little hard to see.
Tenderfoot Thahd Jon*
Cheers for the help mate..although in the end it was just my mistake..I missed one lousy door that didn't need be to picked open which in turn led up and down stairs till I got to lizard sentries. After that, it was easy enough to get into the fort and meet up with the vahnatai escort and wreak havoc.
