  1. Ok thanks. Is it a big deal if I skip 2 & 3 for now and start playing 4? Are there some crucial story elements I will be missing if I do that? I mean I hope wont be totally confused what is going on story wise.
  2. So the only spiderweb game I have played is avernum: escape from the pit. I just saw those other avernum games on steam I'm a bit confused how they relate to acernum: eftp. I may pick them up but I'd like some clarifications first. Are they direct sequels to that game or something? Is there an avernum 2 or 3? Are those steam games some kind of remastered versions of old games?
  3. 2 questions: 1. Does party order matter? I mean the order your characters act during combat. Obviously it is a good idea to have a tanky fighter be the first so he will absorb most of the damage but how about the rest? Is it better to have mage act before priest or does it matter? 2. Does reputation matter that much? I know you need to have some to get all the quests but is there a some point where additional reputation becomes meaningless? I was thinking like if there is a downside to robbing the castle treasury. Obviously other than the role-playing aspect.
  4. I just finished 3 main quests in Avernum: escape from the pit and here are my thought about the game. It took me 48 hours to complete the game according to steam and that is an amazing value from an single player 10 dollar game. It took me a while to get into this game but eventually I was sucked into its world. I was a bit frustrated at times but most of the time I was enjoying myself. Pros: - A very big world and a lots of things to do. - I liked the story and the fact you can do things in the order you want. - 3 independent main quests is a nice idea - Mostly bug free. I did not encounter any major bugs as far as I can tell. - Graphics while not really top of the curve were adequate for the job for this kind of game Cons (maybe fix these for the next games?): - Boat navigation is a pain in the ass. It always gets stuck somewhere. Why does it not work properly like the land movement does? - I can't click some squares without pinpoint accuracy. Sometimes other character is on the way and it kinda annoys me. - Dark areas were pain in the ass. You can't click on the blackness and you have to slowly inch your way forward by clicking 2 squares ahead of your party. Super annoying. - Some insane difficulty spikes. For example I was expecting spiral cave to be relatively beginner friendly (and it was until the end) as it was near the staring area but nope. Anyway I really liked the game and will recommend it to my friends. I may even check other spiderwebs games while I'm in it.
  5. So I have this quest to find orb of thralni and I'm completely stumped how to proceed. I have the quest marker on the waterfall warrens but only thing I could find was some vague mention of thralni. I'm obviously missing something here so please help me out where to find the said orb.
  6. Wow. This game really is hard. I just managed to kill spectral commander in spiral cave. It took me every dirty trick I know and pretty much all my scrolls to take him out. First I lured his retinue out and took them one by one. Then I used every boost item in my possession and went back in and just managed to kill him with concentrated attacks. One of my characters even managed to get there out alive to use resurrection scroll. Then I took out his summons one by one. The final insult was the undead posse waiting near the exit. If I had had one less resurrection scroll I would have had to do that again. I'm playing as normal and I had level 10 party. 2 dual wielding fighters, a priest and a sorceress. As far as I can tell my build is not totally suboptimal. All I can say the difficulty can be really brutal sometimes.
  7. Hello. New user here. I bought the game after seeing Northernlions youtube video. I had never heard of it before but the tactical combat looked interesting and I got the feeling it would be similar to original fallout. I have not yet really played the game but I can say these kind of first impression videos are good way to give more publicity to indie games. I have made many purchasing decisions based on Northernlions and TotalBiscuits videos.
