The pylons normally put out an area where if you enter they send off their charges, the non working ones do not and there are scorch marks around these ones as well.

yes now that it is mentioned (as far as i've seen) the only time i see shapers shape mid battle is when in there strongholds. Although I am only getting to the three forts on the Storm Plains.

Is it possible to shape in the middle of combat in this installment of Geneforge or must you end-combat to shape Creations.
