Definitely not the Destiny Knight. Maybe FATE II, which, while strongly roguelike, pulled in a twist for the fight with Kaos. I've never been a fan of roguelikes, but if I had to have a favorite, that would be it. -
No, ninjas are Japanese primarily. The two statements are unrelated. As for the story, you're confusing it with the one in which whuzz-iz-name the leader of the the robbers stays for dinner at Ali's house.

That's a problem. Easily rectified, though. The game is free now. Just get an emulator. I recommend avoiding C64 emulators, which are almost more annoying working with than the real thing.

I noticed in my travels through Geneforge, that most people hover between Lawful Neutral and Lawful Good, with Shaper government being LN-LE (Lawful Evil being defined as a society where people obey harsh rules out of fear of retribution). There are a few people floating around who count as fully LG and many full-blown madman Chaotic Evils. So where am I going with this? I feel that in Geneforge 3 (and Geneforge 4 especially) that neither side is altruist, and walking two paths has bad consequences. To illustrate:
If, in G4, you go Shaper to prevent the creation of the Unbound:
Not good.Click to reveal..You become an outcast.If you support the Rebels (and keep them alive by supporting the Unbound):
Also not good.Click to reveal..Chaos. Destruction. Ugh.If you play an altruist, who supports the serviles and rebukes the drakons (and Unbound):

True, actually. Remember the story of Ali Baba the merchant? Many assassins, ninjas in particular, were (maybe not are, I'm sure Jason Bourne is laughing at me) honorable people. -

But if you want to look deeper, then I suggest you look at the Devil Whiskey, which acknowledges the fact that "Skara Brae" has a historical source. -

There are minor imbalances in class ability throughout any RPG. However, Geneforge (and more so its sequels) make available a wide range of tactical options and strategic solutions to combat. For me, probably because I fight very differently from you, the Guardian is a very weak class.

Clearly the Sholai are native to an archipelago, because their technology excels where the sea is concerned. From what we know of Shapers and the sea, I should think that the technology of Terrestia was actually quite passable in that respect. The Shapers weren't wimpy at sea, they were just hopelessly outclassed. But we know the Sholai aren't advanced in all respects, because they do not have Shaping, gunpowder, or any idea how to run a proper archaeological expedition.
