Oh, didn't realize this was a G5 topic. In that case, I now chose the intelligent ornk.

Was Geneforge 1 the only game to cap your level at 31? After G2, the level cap has been 61 for all the Spiderweb Software games I think.

A little late to post, was gone for a while. Not sure which character i like best, but for now, I'm going for Heustess.

You don't use the control panel to release it. I think if you go west of the pool with the agent in it, there will be a small device hidden away which will do the job for you. Just look around a bit, and you will find it. I had the same problem when I did Litalia for the first time.

Did you dry downloading from a different location? The download may have become corrupted.

I would put G2 right behind G1. It had the geneforge feeling that the next three games lacked, though it still didn't feel the same as G1. Depsite it still having a poor HUD (I was so happy about the inventory spot though), G2 was a very enjoyable game. It may seem a little boring at first, but once you are pummeling eyebeasts and rotting demons, it gets fun.

You could always edit the script and give her the graphic of a different character.
-
You can change the player ability, but I think it doesn't work on some games.

Ok, I am playing the demo for A3 and I have searched the entire tower to train from X, and I can't find him anywhere. The person that controls entry to the portal told be he is usually around libraries I think, and I searched there too. Found the Xian tome before finishing my first look through, but after searching the entire place for X 20 times I quit.
Anyone know the general area he should be at? Or does he wander as much as some of those other mages and somehow get stuck somewhere.
I did manage to somehow trap myself in that sealed off tunnel with the 3rd triad member; had to reload my older save file. Still don't know how I closed the door when he was in front of it and not being able to open it after. Always have the problem of summoned creatures trapping me in A6 too. You need to fix that Jeff.

That would be your mechanics skill.

The meeting should happen as long as you got the message from the Commander and then head to the meeting glade I think.
Just try leaving the zone and coming back. I don't know what could have caused this. Which faction did you join? I only finished the game as 1 faction so far, but the cutscenes should be different for each one.
I think this is the line of code which starts the meeting:
beginstate 15;
if ((gf(78,4) == 0) && (gf(78,5) == 0) && (party_near_nav(2,13))) {
cutscene = 1;
sf(78,5,1);
sf(78,10,1);
char_clear_action(1000);
toggle_cutscene(1);
}
break;
If you can't get it to start, you could try setting some of the strings back to 0.

Avernum 3 has an awesome and huge demo. I will probably buy the remake.
Anyway, looking forward to the geneforge feel, with newer graphics and HUD.

Agreed, and I like your idea. -
Try it with a different web browser, such as firefox.

Still loving Jeff's quote:
"As far as I'm concerned, an evening out is a failure if it doesn't involve the word "psychosexual." "
And my sig.

Sounds cool, wonder what it is going to be like. Maybe there is a map you can open up while being anywhere in the zone and switch without having to walk to a side.
-
That's why I said you don't need it. It still helps, but you can still be a little stealthy while not feeling like you are taking advantage of the system.

Quote:Makes me wonder why Jeff didn't add a Stealth skill.
G4 and G5 have stealth and stealth enhancing items. You won't need combat mode for stealth. -
Which difficulty setting are you using?
Did you remember to kill the ornks at the beginning for their xp?
-
Yes, there is a way to kill all 3 without combat. You already found out getting the gazers to kill Akkat. As for Rhakkus, someone there will tell you he is afraid of the machinery. There is machinery somewhere that you can use to kill him, a poison vat or something. As for Easss, you can sabotage the machinery before fighting him, in the northern area I think, then convince him to use the Geneforge, which will kill him.

Quote:and it definitely doesn't effect item drops.
The only drop I think it affects in G1 is the crescent stone drop.
Doesn't it also affect drops in G5? I think I also remember getting a higher chance of getting furs (fine furs with even higher luck) from enemies such as rats if you have very high luck in G4. -
Ha, posted just before you.

Actually, the correct term should be Danette's ghost. I remember a Danette's shade or something in a zone near the geneforge. Don't even remember what it told me.
Either way, I don't remember if that stops the spawns or not. I probably cheated my way out of there once i finished.
