  1. perfect! Worked like a charm, thanks a bunch!
  2. I, like a fool, changed my option in A4 to 'dont change at startup' Now of course it wont run without being in 8x6 and 16 bit. When I change my monitor to those settings, it still gives me the same error Is there some switch or something i can change to force it to go back to the change at startup or ask at startup options? ah for reference, im running vista 64
  3. just my 2 cents... but unbalancing in a game where you play only against the computer isnt all that big a deal (imho) If you think it makes it too easy, resist the lure (JOIN ME! i'll never join you!!) and dont use it. Unbalancing only really matters (i believe at least) in games where you play against other people, where it no longer becomes skill, it becomes what items/abilities you have, rather than just pure skill in playing.
  4. those are pretty cool. I particularly like the roofones. Images of chasing a thief across a 'dungeon' of rooftoops (or being chased!) suddenly come to mind...
  5. basicly whats happening in the plot is this. There is a group that have found a way to siphon power off magic capable individuals. There is some leakage from this proccess however, so un used 'power' is flowing out into the world. The group is pushing it off their plateau (there are 3 platues in a stairstep like setup) and ignoring it. On one platue its created Elementals, on the other its made every beings connection to magic twisted, so that its harder to use magic and any creature that is somewhat connected to magic is getting a sort of constant buzz. Making them go crazy after a time. For humans, who can tap into magic, they are finding it harder and harder to use magic - its just not as effective as it used to be. Since both Priest spells and Mage spells use the same SP pool, i wanted to affect them together. I think i may give many mobs a resistance to magic while the party is in that last plataue. I dont want to reduce their stats, cause thats not really the issue - they are still as smart as they were before, just now magic is harder to work with. Think of it like clay, and normal magic is a very mallible clay and easy to mold. Magic on this level is an older, dryer clay, and is very hard to mold. It takes more energy to do. Im liking the resistance to magic bit - its pretty similar, but i dont think there is a way to make heals less without affecting a characters skills.
  6. gold, nah thats an easy one. See my scenario has 3 plateus, on the third one magic is harder to reach, harder to use, and harder to mold, and i want to represent this with spells costing more SP to cast. on an alternative way to do this, could you have (on the main screens of only some of the areas) a call ever x steps that takes off a magic pt. and ever turn in battle loose x sp. Im pretty sure thats possible. But i was hopin for something else. Oh well
  7. is there a way to code something that would, when the party reaches a certain point, make all spells more expensive? In my scenario i have a section were magic has become thicker due to other circumstances. The party (and all other mages) find it hard to work with. Is there any way (i'll even go with an item, though i dont really want to if i dont have to) that causes an increas in magic costs?
  8. Another thing to add - the rectangle paint seclections - i can never remember where i selected the top corner. Something that highlights the squares selected would be nice
  9. go here: the BoA Wikibook - helpful refrence for what all variable positions in the function calls are: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blades_of_Avernum_Script_Reference
  10. havent played either of those yet And i read through the Wikibook archive, but only a real quick glance. Thanks!
  11. Now i may be imagining things, but i seem to remember situations in the Exile series where if you had, say a nephil in your party, people would react differently to you. I havent looked very deeply into various scripting archives yet, but i have yet to see an example in any scenario i played and havent seen a script use it yet either. Is there such a command for BoA?
  12. hey i dont know if this is on your guys to do list or not, but this would be a great feature if you could figure out how to add it - a paintbrush for raising and lowering hights. That rectangle tool is, imho, really really annoying to use. just my 2bit suggetions
  13. *snaps fingers* ah drat. How dissapointing. How expetant. thanks anyway
